I put my daughter on the plane back to Pensacola this morning. It was wonderful having her home for Christmas..but wow how the time flew. I will be lighting out blue candle again when i get home from work today and will have it lit on new years in honor of all of those who cannot be with their loved ones. I am hoping it will help ease the pain of missing her so much. I know she is doing what she loves and that helps a lot. God Bless all of you!

Hi to all of you!
I just found out how to do this..I wasn't sure of what it was all about and how to join. Well I guess if you read, you find things out...I am going out today and getting a blue candle for my son and for all the other sailors who couldn't make it home too. I miss my son so much it hurts. This to was our first Christmas not being with each other. I had to hide the sorrow for my daughters sake, she is 15 1/2 and misses him too, but its not the same. She just doesn't understand. He doesn't call that much and hardly gets on to IM me, so it really is hard. Sometimes I sit with the computer on my lap all day just to see if he gets on...
Well now that I know about the candle I will be back to check this event site out when I get on here.
Thanks mom's and A Blessed New Year to all.

I did not Know about the Blue candle lighting. But I did have a Blue candle burning all day on Christmas day, and will now have it burning every day through the New Year for all of our Sailors and service personnel around the world.

I hope Every one has a very Happy, Healthy New Year!!!

I put my son on a plane for Japan this morning but was lucky enough to have him home for Christmas. We had a blue candle burning all day.

Hope everyone's sailor is safe and sound this holiday season!

My sailor son, Matt, lit the candle Christmas Eve and we will continue to light it every night until Jan.3rd. What a wonderful idea.

I need to go get a blue candle now. I'm a little late on finding this out. Bad me! I love the idea! How sweet of everyone involved!

The only time I got emotional on Christmas day was when I lit the candles. I lit a red for my dad who served and retired after 24 years. He's deceased. I lit one for my husband who served 10 (about 20 years ago) and one for my 20 year old son, who is currently deployed. I lit them all at the same time. The most ironic thing...the red went out about 10 minutes before the white and blue and then the white went out about 1/2 hour before the blue. I've left a blue candle lit (an electric one) in my window, and I will leave it there until my sailor returns home for good. Thank you all for your blessings and support and the same back to you!!! GO NAVY!!!

Even though our sailor was able to be home with us, we lit our blue candle and burned it all day. As our guests arrived throughout the day, they either said "There's your blue candle" or else we explained to them the significance of it. Everyone loved it and promised to light one next year. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a wonderful, wonderful new year.
