Navy For Moms

Hi my son was recently attached to a temporary squadron at NAS Whidbey Island. I mailed a package to him by Priority Mail on Jan. 21st and he has yet to receive it. Was wondering if any one could tell me if they have had similar problems mailing to Whidbey Island. He was at Pensacola before this and we never encountered any problems with mail. Would like to know if any one has some suggestions for mailing there. Thanks!

Never had a problem with the mail at Whidbey before... my son has been there for about 18 months. We live about two hours from the base. If he or his buddies have something valuable sent to them, they send it here and then pick it up. Let me know if you want to send something this way and we can deliver for you! I will be headed up to the base for a visit in the next week or so....

Susan thanks for the offer. I just sent Wes a new package. His first one took 13 days the second one took 8 days. Wes is temporarily attached to a Squadron and his mail goes to that address. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. His address will change when he starts C school so I'm not sure what will happen then. I'm just glad he finally got his package. What is your son's rate? Is this his permanent base? Wes is an AE. I'm flying out to see him over Easter. How long does it take from Seattle to the base? Wes said it is absolutely beautiful there. Is it hard to get on the base? Wes was at Pensacola and it was a open base so you could travel right through it. Thanks again for your response.

My sailor is also stationed at Whidbey Island and he is also on TAD from his squadron. We had sent several pieces of mail to his address with VAQ-135, it took almost 6 weeks for him to get the mail. He was going to the mail person almost every day to check and was getting really frustrated. Even had his Chief go to 135 to figure out what the problem was. We now send his mail to his TAD address and he has no problems getting his mail. We thought that we might have to get him his own PO box at the local post office, if the problem continued. Hope you can work something out.

Our daughter is in Everett. It took 30 mailing days for her to get her box. Instead of going to the FPO, I mail everything General Delivery to the regular post office. Now she gets her mail in three days. I only use the FPO for deployment.
