Hotels for Boot Camp Graduation

We're thinking about staying at the Great Lakes Motel about 1 mile from the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Does anyone know anything about that motel?

We stayed at the Springhill Suites and were very pleased. I'd recommend it to anyone. I can't say anything but good about the rooms, location, food, etc. The staff was great to us. Lots of sailors and their families too.

I am staying at the Ramada, it is about 3 miles from the base. Does anyone have any comments about it? I have heard that the "hallways smell funny", but otherwise nice???

We stayed at LaQuinta in Gurnee. Great clean place, pool, hot tub, free internet, and free breakfast. It was 10mins from the base. 1/2 to the Gurnee Mall and walmart.

Waukegan and North Chicago are one of the worst area in North Suburb. Many crimes and one of the worst school district. I DO NOT recommend anyone staying in those areas. I understand it is very close to the base but please think about your safety first. If you must drive through those areas, stay on Green Bay Rd. or 41. Stay away from side roads and Lewis Ave.

Gurnee is very good. Close to shops and restaurants. Traffic can get really bad sometimes. I would like to suggest Key lime cove. http://www.keylimecove.com/ Our family stayed there on Thanksgiving. Cheapest room is around $100 and up to 4 people's room and pass to their water park is included. New hotel so everything is brand new and very clean. They have stay 1 night get 1 free deal all the time.

Holiday Inn Express in Libertyville will be the best. Less than 10 mins away from the base and it is on 137 (Buckley Rd.) which the base is on. Just down the street from down town Libertyville, which is a very nice small town. Across the street from the hotel is a restaurant called "Wildberries" Very good breakfast. http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildberry-cafe-libertyville

Hi good morning and I hope everyone is doing well. We stayed at the great lakes motel twice while visiting PIR. We had a great stay, clean rooms and friendly service. We heard about this motel from few of our friends in New York that also stayed there a few times. We had a great day trip to Chicago they are close to gurnee mills where the majority of families relax. this should help you. take care.

Ok. I am here at the Ramada in Waukegan. After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried, but it is not bad. The lobby is very nice and the rooms are "middle of the road". Very comfy beds and awesome shower heads! My room was extremely quiet, which is another important feature :0) I think if I had it to do all over again I would stay in Gurnee, but this is just fine and it is right off of the freeway, so getting everywhere is a snap.
