My sailor is not far...Everret..Washington...I do know of some other sailor here in
Whidbey Island...I remember because I asked my son about it...

N4M Mom LisaG. lives up there and is herself former Navy, as is her hubby. Be glad to connect you. My MIL has a little cottage up that way, beautiful quiet area, slower pace of life. We get up there from time to time. Let us know what questions you have. By all means join the Wa/Ore group if your Sailor is going to be stationed there! =)

I live in Marysville, California. I'm about 1 hour north of Sacramento. And I'm 13 hours and 28 minutes from Whidbey, according to Mapquest.

He reported on September 15th. I can't wait to go up there. It looks so pretty. I worry because of who he's attached to that he might have to go to Afgan. Ugh!

Hi, my son is stationed at Whidbey, but is currently on the TR. He is with an air-wing squadron. I don't know how much longer he will be at Whidbey when they get back as he is due to get out by Oct of next year. I used to live in Washington myself, in Tacoma. It was years ago though. I can actually say that if I had my choice of where I wanted to live, it would be in Washington. I absolutely loved it there. Anyway, It would be nice to talk with others with sons/daughters at Whidbey.

My son is in Pensicola Fla at the present time but he and a few of his Airman Buddys just got their orders to go to Whidbey Island not sure when their move date is yet. Sometime after the first of the year

drop by and introduce yourself, also sign in on the discussion "My son just got orders..."! There is lots of info on our bases and the Puget Sound/ Pacific Northwest. Do connect in with NM Carolyn and the other Whidbey moms, (both local and out of Staters like yourself) on their discussion. Let us know when you find out the date and if your son and his friends need any help as they get settled in. They will LOVE the area, it's beautiful, lots of water sport and activities in the good weather, ski activites in the winter, plus fishing, camping, hiking, biking etc.

It'll be a shock though coming from Florida!! Tell them to bring a warm jacket (ones with removable, reversible fleece/waterproof layers work well for all seasons) and you might want to add a crewneck Underarmor Brand shirt (ok to wear under their work uniforms) wool socks from REI and other warm underlayers (online if you don't have one locally) and perhaps a fleece zip up/pullover to his stack of Christmas gifts this year. It's very windy up at Whidbey, all the time and the wind chill factor is something to contend with in the winter time! Happy holidays to you. :-)
