Jennifer Cody's Mom in Florida

How many Moms (or Dads or other significant loved ones) Are stalking the Mailman?

Getting desperate I think so here it goes...

Really thought today would be the day.. Typical me was home all day stalking the mail mans arrival. Usually mail is here around 11:30 AM Not today must have gone our to mailbox 20 times and flag was still up. (I mail Cody a couple letters a day). Well at 4:00PM daughter called from school had missed her bus so I went to go get her. As I pulled out of the driveway I could see the poor mailman about 10 houses down coming this way.. OK I'll wait.... Minutes felt like forever figured this was all a sign the letter was here and forces of the universe where just taunting me. While that minute of waiting seemed like forever and the mailman had not moved from where I first spotted her I figured oh!! This is just taken tooooo long. So I drove up to the Mailman and said please please can I get my mail... OH NO! She could not do that she had to deliver it to the Mailbox and mailbox only... I had to go get my daughter Thought it would be wrong to make her camp out in front of the school because of her brothers letter. So off I had to drive like a maniac to the school to get my daughter and return home to get that letter I knew was waiting for me... I mean it had to be there Mail man was late, Wouldnt give me mail, Daughter missed bus... It just had to all be a taunting sign.. So I flew in to the drive way I dont even think the car was in park before I threw open the door.. Ran to the mail box grabbed the mail through all the junk to the side... Got to the bottom and STILL NO LETTER. so I guess its back to stalking the mail man for me. LOL
Any one as Desperate as I seem to be irrastinally going to hear from their recruit?

OMG how funny!! I was laughing so hard my 10 year old said"Mom you have really lost it" and then of course I get the eyeroll!! I work during the day so my postman has been saved the rath of a Recruit Mom, at least until I run into him on Saturdays-yes usually in my jammies!
The after work mailbox run has become such a ritual since Nicholas left--pull up, throw open the door, look at the mailbox, close my eyes, deep breath and chant please be a letter at least three times and then dive in--usually nothing. Then it's throw the "junk" onto the passenger seat and home to Navy4Mom's looking for news--maybe my debters should change their return address to Nick's, at least they would get opened.

Maybe the "Navy Mom Mailbox Dash" should be the next Olympic event--you'll never find anyone who's loves and is more dedicated to their sport!!"

Mind you this is from a lady, who prior to my son leaving, got notices that said "mailbox is full, delivery suspended. Please come to post office to reinstate delivery.
Thank you all for sharing and bringing a smile and some sanity into my day

LOL! I had to laugh while reading this, but then realized that I shouldn't, because I am exactly the same way! I am notorious for making multiple trips to the mailbox on Wednesdays, because that is the day that I receive my letters from my Hubby! I am even known to be a little late for work on these days, if by chance the mail doesn't come before I am scheduled to be there! I don't know if it's a good thing or if it's a bad thing, but I am friends with the son of our mailman. I have even went so far as to send a message to him telling him to not even bother delivering the mail on Wednesdays if he doesn't have a letter for me! He just laughed and said that he understood. I didn't get my letter today either, but I am assuming that it will be here tomorrow, since Monday was a holiday and the mail didn't run. At least, that's what I am telling myself to make me feel better. I am hoping that I am right. I too, am obsessive about my phone these days. I have only received 1 call since he's been gone, and that was 2 whole weeks ago. I carry my phone with me everywhere I go, including the bathroom, sleep with the phone next to me, and even leave my phone in my pocket with the ringer on low and on vibrate, just in case he happens to call while I am there! I have already warned all of my co workers, including my boss, that if he calls, I will stop what I am doing and take the phone call. I guess I am fortunate, because I work with some very understanding people.

I know how you feel, it was almost 3 weeks before we received our first letter from boot camp. I would hear our mail lady coming and meet her at the box. We are on a first name basis and she honks her horn when she has a letter from bootcamp, usually on thursday, probably Friday this week.
Keep your cell phone on at all times and with you. I really hope you receive a letter soon.

OMG!!! My coworkers are looking at me like I've lost my mind!!! LMAO.... This is the funniest string! I'm hoping for a letter tomorrow (today?) but I'll be sleeping until about 130 and then going to the gym at 2 so I may not be there when the mail comes.... Of course, our daughter will be using my car to get around since her's needs the drivers window motor fixed... sooo I get to meet up with her at our mechanic and then go to sleep... I will be VERY tired... which of course means, the gym may have to be rescheduled... lol, what we do for our kids....

I just stumbled on this thread and tis sure it will leave a brilliant smile on my face every time I picture you ladies and your madness. You all do realize there are probably medications out for this disease,
crazynavymomidis and tis also assured that it comes with a warning label:

WARNING: This medication may not relieve anxiety, irritability, uncontrollable flooding of tears and violent burts of behavior due to the deprivation of constant correspondence from the family Sailor. In these all too often and expected circumstances please encourage this family member to seek professional help and purchase our cute and most times highly effective little white jacket with the silver jewelry, that can be purchased from our website, crazynavymomidis.com

My lad Rob is only DEP since August 12th, so I have not yet experienced all this. Tis sure I may become later more well known as Cindy Jekyll & Hyde. LOL!

I have been very fortunate. I recieved his box of personel stuff one week and one day from his departure. I didn't want to open it. It was like a death of some kind. Here Ms. Bundy these are your son's personel belongings, but my girlfriend said he might have hide a note in the pants pocket. I opened the box and there it was. So I have had a little comfort. Hang in there and don't harass the postman. " I think it maybe a federal offense". Hang tuff.

How long has your son been in? I haven't heard from my granddaughter yet, and she's been gone since the 17th of Aug. I live about twenty miles from my office, and I know I will get a speeding ticket soon, driving like a maniac to get home to check mail.
