Navy For Moms

I have a couple of questions about graduation for anyone that has been through this already. Our son graduates on Oct. 10th. We understand that he gets 4 passes. However he does have other brothers that would like to go in for the graduation and we are being told that they can go but will be put in a room and only able to enter if there is room. Is this true? Also we are told that someone that is on the pass needs to be in the car right behind us since we won't all be able to get in one car and they will be aloud in. Is this true? Any information you can give us would be appreciated.

Dear Karen,
This is a popular question. I have been writting for some time now, and what I am informed on this topic, no one will be turned away from graduation. As long as everyone has a photo I.D., they can attend the graduation. Sitting is limited through. A couple of extra people, are fine, Just don't come with over ten extra people.
Also with the car. call up the base and tell them you need one extra car pass. They will either mail one to you, or just put your name down on the expected graduation day, a pass should be there when you arrive.
Congratulations on your son's graduation!!
Take care and God bless.

My son also graduates this date. And I was wondering the same question. So as long as they have room his brothers can get in?

Children under 12 do not count. They will not turn people away. Everyone over driving age must bring an ID/driver's license. One car can park on base (or you can park both cars off base and walk if you want to keep your group together). The other car should PASS the base, and make the next right and park at the Metra (train station) lot. The graduation hall will be visible on the other side of the fence. It is a short walk to the gate. Show your ID's and follow the crowd. We had extra people and they were not held aside. We all walked in together and found seats in front of the sign posted for our son's division#.

If it is a nice day, you might as well park both cars together at the Metra lot, as it takes quite a while to get out of the base parking lot once the graduation is over.

Is this Metra Lot hard to find? I'm just trying to find out the best way to do this because I would absolutely hate to be late or miss this because of not getting into the parking lot. Also does your pass get you on base to pick them up when their on Liberty during the weekend? Is it true that only 4 people are aloud in the car? Thanks so much for all the help I'm really encouraged by all the response from so many of you. This is all a new experience for us.

Read the link I posted above for the name of the street to turn into for the Metra lot. It is simply the next right past the base. Very easy and a short walk. Also easier to get back off base afterwards, because there is a traffic jam to get out of the parking lot (there were 825 graduates the day we went).

Hi. I've been to 2 graduations and both times we had more than the "four". Be sure to bring photo ID and everyone should know what ship and div they are going to see. That was about it. We had one car with a pass, got in... no problem. Another car with friends, no pass... was allowed in and someone else took the metra train from Chicago and also got in,. Good luck, have fun and enjoy your time. Welcome to the other side.

That's good to hear. So, does it really matter if the extra people we bring are not on the Recruits Intended Guests list? I'm trying to make it out but we're still waiting to see who can come and whose a maybe. So, just list 4 and tell the others to come but we may not get to sit together basically? Thanks!!

I am sure to that they will not turn anyone away. I think your sailor has to request the car passes?? or you could probley call RTC and get that infor. I would have you kids that do not have pic ID get them they did ask for my nieces who is 9, so better safe than sorry. Go to DMV dept. it is always good to have these anyway. Have fun @ PIR best of luck to your sailor's travel's. Tamie
