Navy For Moms

On a recent visit with another Navy mom . I noticed she had a blue star flag in her window.Even after my sailor being in Navy 2 years now.I still have alot to learn.I didn't know what the flag meant. It means you have a son/daughter serving in the military during war time. You can also get mutilple stars for more sons or daughters serving in your family.
Theres also a gold star for people that have lost there son /daughter to war.I don't want to have to hang that one.It goes back to WWII.It just lets people know that you are a military family. Its like the yellow ribbon idea.
I ordered mine from e-bay for $5.00.Prices varie.
Theres a site called bluestarmothers.com. Its a great organization,But they want you to pay a membership for $20.Which is fine too but I just wanted to buy the flag.
Just some info to pass on to my N4m's

A few months before my son left for Boot Camp, we made a trip to New Orleans to visit the D-Day Museum. After our tour of the exhibits was over, we made a trip to the gift shop. There was a very nice display of Blue Star Flags. I think I must have gone by that display 10 times, each time thinking "I really want one of these, but I wonder how my son would feel about it?". He was shopping in a different area of the store with his GF. Finally, I decided not to purchase the Blue Star Flag and left the shop with a few post cards and went next door to have a cup of coffee. When my son and his GF finished shopping, they met me at the coffee shop and we headed for home. When we got to the car, my son said "Here Mom. This is for you." Yep, you guessed it. A Blue Star Flag. Oh boy, did I have to take a few deep breaths before I could thank him!!! He proudly hung it as soon as we got home. I often get questions about its significance. I am very, very proud to be a Blue Star Mom. Thanks for the link to Blue Star Mothers. I'd never heard of them before.

God Bless all our Sailors and their families!

I got it, I got it ! My older son helped me and we ordered it tonight. Thankyou !Thankyou ! i'm a very triditional person and a very patriotic person. If you saw my flag in front of my house since 9/11 and now my navy flag hangs with it.You would understand. I want to remind everyone their are men, women sons and daughters fighting two wars and they should never ever forget,Not just todays soldiers but the ones before. I was young during vietnam but I'll never forget those soldiers . Those days we wore silver braclets with the names of a soldier on it, my best friends brother was killed there, so yes till tis day i will never forget. Now my own son is serving his country, our country ! Everyone passing my home see our American Flag waving proud, say freedom isn't free. Thanks for letting me vent and for telling me where to get the Blue Star flag. Maria
