Navy For Moms

Recruiter just gave my husband this information for our son's address. He said he didn't think the division number was correct, but that's all he had. Mark left 9/24 and arrived 9/25 to GL. Please let me hear from you if your child was given this same address. He also gave us the Division # R2009 but said he didn't think that was correct ....... I'm trying to be patient but it is getting harder and harder!

Welcome to our group Linda! Looks like our boys are in this together. Stephen's note at the bottom of the letter that came with the address said he and his division are doing good so that includes Shea. I know that they all know each other because they share the same barracks. I think I read somewhere that a division is made up of about 80 recruits, male and female, so surely everyone in division 006 knows each other by now. It is a comfort to connect with other moms and see pictures of the people my son is with. This is a really great support group.

Hi Andria....
just found your note here! Oh! I had no idea there were 80 recruits in a division. I have now 3 short letters from my son. I haven't heard any details from him. Only one short call a couple of weeks ago, when everyone got theirs. How long did you get to talk to your son? My son sent me a pencil rubbing of a cross a Captain gave him...he was sure proud of it. He doesn't express a whole lot. He is glad I am coming to see him. I am too (-:!
Keep me posted if you hear anything else.
Yes, I agree this is Wonderful support on this site. I feel so lucky. Can't imagine as before...one never knew anything for the 8 weeks. Yipes!

Welcome aboard Linda my nephew is in the same division as your son and it sounds like they are already thinking of each other as a team when they mention in a note that the division is doing well, sounds like they are off to a great start.

In boot camp they are not given any computer time. The best thing to do is to write, write, write...Mail call is one thing that all recruits look foward to. They are allowed to write on Sunday and are given the opportunity to call home usuallly around week 3. Sometimes they "earn" extra phone calls home, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for too many of those. We have a group for Division 006 you are welcome to join. If you go to my page you will see it there. Once you get to the group you will be able to join.

We received a letter on Friday that had an address of Div 006 USS Marvin G. Shields, Bldg. 7112. Hope that helps. Our Son left on 9/25 so I am guessing they are on the same "ship". I knew having him leave was going to be hard but did not realize how hard.

Hey Lorie, how are you doing this week? I was wondering if we will get a letter this week perhaps. I was just reading on your page about the pics you took of Jared right before he left and how his smile gave you reassurance. I kept getting strength through my son's attitude also. There were a few pics where he looked so confident and mature and "ready", but in some photos he looked a little like a young school boy again on his first day of school......or maybe it was his mommie just worrying too much. He has been undecided for a while on what direction he wanted to go with his future and we were blown away when he made his announcement!
I hope the division is strong and GETTIN' ER DUN!!!
