My son arrived October 1 - Any other moms out there

Well Jonathon arrived safely - got his call at 12:44 am - was really glad he took his cell with him so he wouldn't have to wait in any lines. He left with 2 others from southeast Texas. I miss him and can't wait to get his address so I can start sending letters. Just wondering if there are any other moms out there with October 1 start date.

My son too left from Miami 10/1, I got the call around 10:45 pm and he sounded upbeat but it was only a 10 second call. He too took his cell phone but the reception was horrible, He also called me when he landed in Chicago, which was nice. I have been reading on this forum about how we should always include in our letters or cards to our recruits to be sure and order the pictures when they get the order forms, usually 2-3 weeks into boot. I have a couple of freinds who their children are in A school and they ordered the pictures, and highly recommend it. Good luck to your Johnathon, what did he sign up for?

Jonathon is going to be going to A School in Pensacola - Aircrew/Rescue swimmer is what I am told. Jonathon did say that he would remember to order the pictures - there is also a video of PIR that you should remind your son to order - it is the only way to have the graduation on record since we are not allowed to take photos during the ceremony. So do you know what your son is going to being doing in A School and where he will be? It was going hearing from you-we should keep in touch - maybe meet up at graduation. We have family down in Miami, you are so lucky it is a very pretty place.

Hi Cathee,

My son, Eric, is at GL now as well. He arrived 9/24. He too is heading to Pensacola next for Aircrew. He is planning on taking the Rescue swimmer class too.

We're hoping to get some sort of contact this week, fingers crossed!!!

I had a terrible sleep last night worrying about my son, it almost felt like a mother instinct rush and I feel really sad today. I hope he is ok. Anyway he is going to A School in Pensacola too and is takling IS or IT classes there. I am hoping to be able to figure out a way to get refundable tickets for myself and my other two kids to attend his graduation. There are many good tips on this site for places to stay as well as transportation to and from BC. I actually live 2 1/2 hours North of Miami on the East Coast, Hurricane Alley, hehe. Take care and I will keep in touch...

Dear Cherie,
Have faith in the Lord, when you are feeling really sad, say a prayer for yourself and your son and let GOD do his work. Trust me, it has eased some of my anxiety. I still cry but I do feel a little better. I just have to keep reminding myself that GOD is watching over him now. Plus you must always remember that no news is good news, my daddy taught me that. Maybe the boys will become friends at BC and then they will know someone when they get to Pensacola. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Aircrew/Aviation Electronics. He was hoping to get to do Rescue Swimmer as well. How about yours?

Intelligence Specialist on a ship IS for short... He loves computers and is very bright.
It took Eric a while to decide on AE. Originally he was going in the Nuke program. After a lot of soul searching he settled on this because he wanted something more hands on, and getting to fly sealed the deal. He was very surprised by his original scores on the electronics portion of the testing, he got 99%. They thought he worked in electronics of some sort, but never has!
Wow 99% you must be proud. My son has been out of school for many years and really surprised himself. Did you get the box?
