My son arrived October 1 - Any other moms out there

Well Jonathon arrived safely - got his call at 12:44 am - was really glad he took his cell with him so he wouldn't have to wait in any lines. He left with 2 others from southeast Texas. I miss him and can't wait to get his address so I can start sending letters. Just wondering if there are any other moms out there with October 1 start date.

Dear Cherie,
Got Jonathon's form letter today (lots of tears - especially when he said to make sure I gave his little sis a hug for him) she was so happy. Jonathon is Div 014 Chicago Bldg 7117. I guess his box will follow shortly. I sent out my many letters, boy he is going to have a lot to read. I hope that you are doing well, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of our recruits and their families.

My son Jamie left Portland Maine October 1. He called from O'Hare airport at 5:30 and the from Great Lakes at 9:15 p.m. He brought his cell phone with him too, I am glad of that. He still sounded exited. He said he would call again in a couple of weeks. This is a very hard adjustment, but I am so proud.

It is a very hard adjustment indeed. I pray that all them are making their adjustments as well. I know that it is difficult for me but it must also be a shock to their systems as well. For Jonathon, he is finally going to be somewhere that has cold winter months, this is a strange thing for him, he said when he got off the plane that it was cold and he was glad he took a coat. I too am very proud of him as well as all the others who join to serve their country. It is a great thing they are doing. Keep in touch, We will get through this together.

The weather got up to 55 degree's in GL today and the low was 42 degree's. Right now is warm, last year the low was -52 degree's (with out the windchill) and there was over 100 inches of snow. The bases do not shut down.

Keep your chin up it will be awhile before you hear from him again. Start writting the letters, so when you get the address you are ready to mail some off.

My daughter and 3 others left Louisville KY Oct 1 on a 3:10 pm flight. She made a quick call from the Chicago airport when she arrived and later in the evening about 8 or a little after called from boot camp. I understand that they would not get to go to bed until Thursday evening. I was watching the clock wondering what she is doing. Her recruiter told her that they sleep from 10pm to 5am. If that is true at least that will be close to what hours she is used to sleeping.

Hi Bonnie,
I guess there were a lot of recruits arriving that day, Jonathon and his group landed at O'Hare at 8:45 but I don't guess they got to the base til midnight or so. I am glad to know that I am not the only one going through child withdraws. I miss him terribly and dread the day the box arrives. I have a friend that was in the Navy and he has been talking me through a lot of my concerns - of course everything he went through was years ago - lol. I pray that he keeps his faith because I know GOD will not let him down. I think the best we can do for them right now is keep them all in our prayers since we are not there to watch over them GOD will.

OH Jessica, I had the most wonderful of weekend because Jonathon got to phone home yesterday and he had 30 min. You have to tell me the Div and Ship Christopher is on. Jonathon is Div 014 USS Chicago and yes I know his PIR - 11/26/08. He was told he has to report to Pensacola on 11/30 and was given time to call home so travel plans could be made because papers have to be turned in by Wed. We should get mail this Thursday as their first actual letters got picked up today. I can not wait - he said he had so much to tell me but this call had to be about business - not social - we might get one of those in week three. Keep in touch with me ok.
