Hello Dawn, My daughter is also on that ship she is in DIV 430 what Div is your daughter. I think that there is more than one DIV in the building at a time. This wonderful site has given me LOTS of info and I think the Ship(building) holds up to 1,000 people all broken down into DIV's of around 88 or so. Someone please correct me if I didn't get it right.
Hi! My son is on this ship as well...but division 011. He is schueduled to PIR 11/21...if all goes as planned!
My daughter is not in a building - she is on the USS Kearsarge - ship - she is deployed at the present time for Continuing Promise 2008. Thanks for your reply
Is your son deployed right now - ?? Want to make sure we are talking about the same ship ....lol..thanks for your reply
Hello,
My son is also on the USS Kearsarge Div. 021 He left for BC on 10/06 still don't have a graduation date for him. I tried the Navy recruite web site no luck. God Bless our children.
Hi Marie, my son is there but div.011. From looking at the grad site I think you can assume that your son's div. will be in the next group...so the next week, on Friday would be the PIR. I think, if I am counting correctly that it would be Dec. 5. How are you holding up?
Hi Cari,
You are absolutely right on the PIR date. Its really hard because there is no way to reassure myslef that he is ok usually i would pick up the phone call him on his cell and ask so where are you. If only I could speak to him just so that I know he is fine. I'm sure he is in good hands. I cry everyday. I see his car I cry. I walk into his room I cry. I hear his favorite song on the radio I cry. I'm about ready to stalk the mailman I haven't recieved a letter yet. Hopefully monday.
Hi Dawn,

My son is on the ship also are you going on the Tiger Cruise. My son is a AHB and this was his first deployment. It took awhile to get us to. Can't wait for them to get home.
Dawn and Marie, I'm Chaplain John Kelly, and I'll be joining your son and daughter on the KEARSARGE in a little more than a month as the Catholic Chaplain. Hopefully, I can meet and get to know your Sailors once I'm there. Tell them to introduce themselves to me when I get there on 1 December. It'll be nice to be able to meet them and start to get to know the crew.
How cool, John!

We have a special place in our hearts for the Kearsarge. It was my husband's last sea command before retirement. Amphibs work hard, but a great ship they are!

My favorite picture of my husband and son is taken on the flight deck at twilight. You can see the ship's wake behind them and the look of pure joy is on their faces. We didn't know at the time my son would be joining the Navy. He had an absolute blast on the tiger cruise. I wish I had gotten the chance to go on one ---and now maybe someday I will!

Good luck to everyone.
Achseh, when did your husband retire and is a Capt? I'm looking forward to getting on the ship, I've been on shore duty for 3 years at the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, SC and I've had the privilege of workiing with many of our future Nuke's at NNPTC and NPTU. Before this I was on the USNS COMFORT, which responded to Katrina and Rita back in '05. But I'm ready go back to sea duty now, shore duties good, but after a while you get that itch to go back out again.
My goodness I am misleading, aren't I? I'm sorry about that. What I meant was his last sea tour. (Maybe it was wishful thinking? Either way embarassing!) LOL No, he was a Master Chief on board. And I understand that itch as much as he does. There comes a point where you just know it's time for him to get back to sea. He's been retired 2 years now.

Sailors were meant to be on ships and ships are meant to be at sea.
