My son is also going into be a Corpsman. That was my fear also. I was told they have to volunteer and sign a seperate
contract to actually be on the ground assisting marines that are injured on the field. If I was told the correct info, they will
either be on a ship or hospital. Please keep in touch. let me know if you find out anything different, My son leaves
Jan 20th. It hasn't hit me yet. At first I was not accepting his decision to join, but I sat down with him and he really
researched the Navy that I then approved. He is so excited. I just have to be happy for him. Let me know how you are doing,

My husband signed his contract to become a Field Medic for the Marines. It's still so strange to me that he has to be a sailor to patch the guys up in the field! lol My husband is in boot camp right now. I miss him so much. My husband joined the reserves, so it will be interesting to see what happens to him after he finishes all of his training. I'm nervous when I think about him going overseas, but I just remind myself that this is what he wants. I mean, he worked and put me through school - I should do the same for him. It's been the hardest on our three kids. I don't think they really get what Daddy is doing yet. My husband's 'real' job calls me once or twice a week to make sure we're doing okay and if we need anything. I know they are struggling without him as well. I'd love to meet some other Reserve Corpsman if anyone is here! I have a million questions to ask. . .
