Navy For Moms

I would love to hear form other Christian moms and especially those whose son is serving aboard submarines. I think our sons and daughters could really use our prayers and it would be great for moms to be able to share these requests.

My son MM1 Mike Dayton is a sub sailor. He is now on his first shore duty in 9 years. He took a assignment on the USS Emory Land a surface ship so that he could get orders to Europe. That is were he was steam burned. He was afraid that his skin grafts on his legs would keep him from getting back on subs again but, he has healed so well that I don't think that it will be a problem. I told him that I have prayed for his safety since he enlisted and he used it all up in a matter of 3 seconds when the accident happened. There were so many people that were praying for his recovery that he healed so quickly that the doctors were even surprised. No one will ever convince me that God was not with Mike that day and saved him. I thank the Lord everyday that I still have him here on earth.

Jacki,
Thanks so much fr your reply. I am sure that it was the Lord's pertection on that day that not only saved your sons life but that he didn't get hurt any worse than he did. What is an MMI? I am not up on the different abbreviations. Is your son looking forward to going back on Subs? It is so good to hear from other moms. I haven't hear from too many other believers, but I also know people are busy. Thanks Cathy

Hope,
First of all, wre will be praying for your son. I can't imagine his feelings after this tour. Was this his first tour? i understand what he is saying about 1) being the only Christian on the boat as this is what ourson has to deal with as well. it is also hard because they don't want to comprimise their faith but at the same time they live in close quarters for months at a time and have to be able to get along and work with the others.
Our son jsut completed his second patrol and he said it was better becuase he had a regualr job on the boat and he didn't just feel like a piece of bagage. It still is very hard to not have other believers on board. Our son is aboard the USS Kentucky out of Bangor, Washington.
What is your sons rank? Does he have a lot more qualifying to do? We will keep praying. I am hoping to find other moms of sons who are believers and we can keep a running prayer list, so it was good to hear form you and please feel free to keep intouch. It would also be good to know hen they are gone so we can pray. I know that we can't know when Ray is leaving or returning. His wife knows and tells us after he is gone and we get a phone call from Ray when he gets back. When he is gone, I know they can recieve emails and I would be more than happy t write him via email when he is away. Would love to hear form you anytime. It is an encourgement to hear form other believers. Love In Christ Cathy

Hope,
Thanks so much for the email and the wonderful informatikon. I hope it is alright that I forwarded the note to my son and daughter-in-law. It is kind of har to expalin where we live. We lived in Searspport, Maine until this past January and then we temporaily long term moved to East Marion, NY, which is out on the very end of Long Island. My father in law had liver cancer and passed away a few weeks agfo. My mother in law is totally blind and so we have decided to stay on as long as we are needed. We still have out home in Maine and folks are looking after it. We expect to be here for atleast anther year and not sure what we will do after.
We have been praying that there would be other beleivers on the Kentucky so that maybe they could get together for a Bible study. We will certainly be rpaying for your son. It has been tough for these guys to get qualified and both are still working on it. Well, I will certainly keep in touch. It is so reassuring to know one other Christian mom and to have our sons so close to each other, even if they don't know each other. Love in Christ Cathyh

I am so excited to find another Christian who has a son on submarines and then is stationed in the same area and the same rank.. I would like to talk about a few other things about life for our sons on submarines but am reluctant to put it on a blog. If you would like to share ther things and are interested in getting in touch with me through a email address then let me know. My email address is cathywiggin@gmail.com or cathywiggin@yahoo.com. I think they really need our prayers. I would love to get a few other Christain moms as well and maybe with time it will happen. Love in Christ

Hope,
My son is also on the USS Nebraska Blue out of Bangor, WA. He, like your son, is a Christian. Surely they know each other. Kyle is a Missile Technician. The accident you spoke of was horrible. Kyle was with Mike the whole 5 hours until he was in the Lord's arms. I would love to hear from you and other Navy Mom's out there.

I am a Christian and a mom my son is in GL now he is not and will not be assigned to a submarine but that does not mean that I can't pray for your son. I actually already pray for him because I pray for all of our military men and women. I start prayer @ 5 every am to lay before God for our servicemen and women. I pray God's protection on and around them ,I pray for their families, I pray that Jesus' blood would be upon them and keep them from hurt, harm, and danger. My son was bought up in the way of the Lord. I encourage him to not be ashamed of the Gospel and strongly encourage him to share his faith . It is working for him because God is moving mightly in his life and on the lifes of others while he is RTC. I pray for you you pray for me and we both pray for them(servicemen and women). God Bless

Good Morning, my Navy son is not on a submarine, but he is a Christian officer serving as a nurse for our vets in Virginia. No emails, very few phone calls and long hours. Hard not hearing from him and no family close to where he is stationed. I am praying that he will diligently seek a church home for Christian support while he is away from from Christian influence and then for comfort too because his dad has stage 4 cancer. So Proud of my Navy son!

Please keep my son in prayer also.......his name is Derek. He is not on a sub nor a ship, he is shore duty in Hawaii, but I would still like you all to pray for him, as I will pray for all of you and yours.
