My son left on Tuesday. the recruiter sent me his address via e-mail on Wednesday, I got the box on Friday and the letter on Monday. I would call my recruiter tomorrow morning. Let us know when you find out something - I will be praying for your son and for you!

our son, Mitch, is in the group just ahead of yours. He started Oct. 2nd. I think it took about 10 days for his box to arrive. Warning, STAND back from the box when you open it! Our son had been in those clothes almost 24 hrs before he changed, WOW! LOL.
The first couple of letters , he seemed pretty homesick, now he loves it! BUt, my son has wanted to be in the Navy since he was 3 yrs old, so this is following his dream. Did you find the great lakes website? If you look under familes, and get his div and ship number, you can find his address on the how to contact your recuit page. Make sure you remeber to ask him for his division number, and ship number. It's a great website!

The recruiter told our son before he left for bc that he will be given the choice to send his clothes back or donate them and the Navy would get them to some charitable organization, so maybe that it what he has done. My letter did not show up for about 3 1/2 wks. and then I got four at once! Better than Christmas Morning!!! The lesson I think all of us new Navy moms have had to learn about bc is that "no news is good news". Good luck to your son!

It is also possible that your son donated whatever belongings he had to charity so in that case you wouldn't ever get a box. Most recruits don't do that but there are a few who do. Don't worry, you should be hearing something soon.

I wouldn't be to concern just yet. it takes a few weeks before you get the box or a letter.

My son Stephen left for BC on the 7th. I got the box Friday after he left. I got the form letter and an actual letter from him on the 17th. It took 10 days to get something other than the box. Hopefully your've gotten your box, form letter and actural letter by now. Stephen is Ship 6 div 903. Where is Damien stationed? Our PIR date is 12/5.

My son just graduated Friday at Great Lakes. I got his box a week after he got to Boot Camp. The form letter came the next week. The box made me laugh when I got it because it's rather large and all he sent back was his cell phone and his keys. I never asked what he did with the things he wore. He had teased that he was going to wear his worst clothes and tennis shoes and throw them away. I wasn't there when he left so I don't know what he wore.

He said letters meant so much to him. They weren't allowed newspaper clippings and musical cards, but he loved getting letters and pictures and even a picture his good friend colored for him--which was almost taken away because the petty officer thought it might be a newspaper clipping because it's from a coloring book.
