Navy For Moms

I just got a letter from my son today and there is this one line that makes me chuckle over and over again...I thought it might be fun to share these if anyone else has any. I considered putting it in context for ya'll but thought it wouldn't be as funny. So, in David Letterman style, I will start with my so far funniest line home from my son was:

"I guess not everybody appreciates ninjas."

Some of my favorites:

Dad, Thank you for saying that you miss having me around. I miss being around. awwwww

Mom, Please ask everyone to send me some mail. There are some guys here who get up to 5 and 6 things a day. Now, I know you can do better than that.

I have to go. I have ironing to do. And, I never knew there would be so much clothes folding in the Navy.

I think every letter we've gotten has ended with the line, "I better go, I have ironing to do." I think I may frame one! Made us laugh every time!

After asking my son just what his job as port watch entailed, he gave a short description and added, ..."and it's stupid and boring, and it's my job to make sure 44 people do it right"... I had to laugh at that !!

My son's first letter home was short but had a few comments, and he doesn't believe in punctuation so I included his own way of writing.

Bootcamp isnt to bad all it is is doing whatever your told to do. (thats my son, stating the obvious that I had been trying to get thru to him all these years.)

The shots did suck.

I won't get any real money til december due to the costs of gear. So dont be surprised at that. (he has me on his bank account, like I am watching it like a hawk)

:) Bootcamp isnt to bad all it is is doing whatever your told to do. (thats my son, stating the obvious that I had been trying to get thru to him all these years.) <---- If you do a search I think you will find a number of us who have said the EXACT same thing!!!

While we were having dinner with our son this weekend, he did say flat out that bootcamp was EASY. He was almost kind of shocked at that. All you have to do is do what they told you!

Newest letter said
"I have to drink 10-12 canteens of water a day and sometimes have to hold peeing for about an hour there have been a few times I almost peed myself and some guys already have"
This is kinda sad for them but I still thought it was somewhat amusing.

Here's Aaron's:

"This is probably the only thing I ever have regretted, but I'm sure it will pay off in the end." (From his first letter home)

"We're on 'cruise control' by now..." (From his second letter home)

"It's really just a matter of annoyance now as opposed to difficulty" (From his letter sent with 25 days to go and my favorite!!!)

I've decided it would take too much paper work and cost to much money to kill us, so we will survive

I think that is the new number one for the list!

OMG, I am CRYING FROM LAUGHING! This sounds like my son, so dry and hysterical.

After seeing your responses to this, I told my son about it. He is currently a recruiter getting ready to head to OCS, and he wanted me to dig out all his letters home from boot, and he laughed harder than any of us. His new favorite is "for a bunch of really smart guys all heading to Nuke school, you'd think they could learn to shut up"
