Hi Kathy!
No, Rob is going in to aviation - A school in Pensacola, FL, as far as I know now anyway -that could change of course.
I'll mention Jason to Rob if you think it would be OK. Or do you think we should just wait - maybe not try and push them together? I'm sure you are like me - just want to make sure Rob has a friend on board this trip they are taking. Course, sounds like they are heading in different directions. I'm patiently waiting on The Box - how about you? I sent out Rob's halloween card & another letter with some printed Irish halloween customs & a joke. I do plan on sending something out each day. I want him to know how much we support this choice and keep him motivated to focus & finish. Are you as jittery as me?

Jason is also going to A school in Pensacola, FL for Aviation (his course of study will be Avionics). He is also trying to become a Navy Diver. This is why his recruiter told me this morning that he is on Ship 06. He said that's where usually place Special Op's (which I would imagaine are Divers, etc.) He went with a buddy from high school and I was a little upset to find out they were separated, but his recruiter told me that's because they placed Jason in Special Op's. I already sent my first letter out (I wasted no time), my next letter I will mention that I met you on this site. (I already told him in my first letter that I was a member of Navy4moms) I know he'll get a kick out of that. . .he thinks I'm really weird with this!!. Jason did neglect to tell me about "the box" thank goodness I found this site and was given a heads up. I don't expect that to be a very good day for me!!

Rob wants to be one of the guys on the Carriers flagging in the planes. That is why he is in the aviation field. They describe that job as a 'chaotic ballet' - that's my kid! LOL I hope he makes it, since that is his real desire at this point. Of course, he could come across something else that sparks him just as much, in the meantime, I guess. So Jason wants to dive? How cool is that! Good for him! I too already sent the first letter, so I too will mention meeting you in tomorrows. I got 'The Box' - my hubby had it on the table when I got home. He knew I'd want to open it and he waited while I searched for a note. Found it! He wrote it on the bus on the way to BC. I read it and only started to tear up when I came to the end. What a glorious moment it was. Like a small gift reassuring me to trust in him. Course, I'll feel better when I actually get to talk to him. I do know Rob needed his wisdom teeth pulled and figured they'd do that first thing. Plus he would need those adorable BC glasses, so figured they'd have him down while those wee being made, that way he could have them when he was pretty much recovered and be able to really get started. Of course, those are only my speculations. Watch too many CSI shows -ha! The power of deductions & common sense! I need to still call his recruiters ans see if they have his 'tentative' grad date - they told me they should know it by then. Well dear, have a good day tomorrow. Hope all is well for you the rest of the week.

Hi ladies,

Just wanted to tell you that the 900 divisions are the Drill/band (I can't remember what else) divisions. My son is in the 903 and will be doing drill for his PIR and 2 before that from what I understand. This is quite an honor for them as I have heard. Do either of your kids play an instrument or were in jrotc? Check out the 900 division forum. This also means they will have to work harder/more because they will have to practice too. With that said, don't expect long letters I've only gotten 2 very short ones since there days, even Sundays are full.

Thanks Val. I had read about the 900 Divisions just recently but, it hadn't 'clicked' until you mentioned it. I had actually wanted to mention it to Rob but, really didn't think he'd head in that direction I guess I was wrong! He is musically gifted IMHO - plays the guitar and sings. I hope he likes it. Hey, maybe the could start the first SAILOR ROCK band!
I did start a GROUP - SHIP 06 DIV 904, so if anyone has someone there we can chat together.
I got The Box yesterday and he had written a note on the bus on his way to BC - that was a nice surprise. I needed that! Still can't wait to hear his voice!

Val,

I have a son in Division 904 Ship 06. Joshua, from Ct. He is in the group with the band, choir & drill team. Those are some of Joshua's favorites. He played in the HS marching band for 4 years. We are all Band & Drum Corps here, so I am sure he will be right at home (a drummer). He also plays a little guitar, just started. I also can't wait to hear his voice, miss him terribly, he was my youngest!! I am so glad that this site is here.

Hi Cindy. . I can't beleive you got "the Box" already!! I was thinking it would take weeks to get it. I posted a question about the 900 Divison, I'm so confused because Jason doesn't play a musical instrument (he played the guitar when he was nine for about one month and believe me it was something to hear :) His recruiter left the impression that it was because he was interested in becoming a Diver, that was why he was placed in that division??? So, I'm really stumped now, especially since he went in on the "buddy system" and was seperated from his friend and placed in the 900 Divison? So many things I am unsure about it's driving me nuts!!! However, this site is a Godsend!!! I'm hoping to get some answers here. I wondering now about Jason's wisdom teeth?? I know he also needed his pulled, another thing to worry about because my son is deathly afraid of the dentist. I'm going to try to find out as much as I can about the 900 Division, and I'll pass on anything I learn to you. I find that it does help being in contact with the mom's here, there's alot of wisdom and great advice on this site.

Hi Nancy, yes, they are close. I am on phone with Rob's recruiter as we speak. Ok, he is either still in physical/dental processing or they are waiting for the rest of his Division because no date is specified yet. OK, not to worry right - be patient. Still..... I asked the Recruiter -IF there was a problem for any reason would he know it. He said they are required to call their Recruiter in such a case and then I proceeded to tell him to then
let me know as well and call me -he assured me he would. Let's just hope neither of us gets THAT call.
Isn't it amazing that a kid from Illinois and Texas are at the same place same time! What a brilliant way to meet people from all over! I really love that idea.
All the very best to you and your Sailor to Be dear!

Kathy & Cindy,
OMG, my son Joshua is also in Div 903 ship 06. He wrote only twice and said he is in the "Triple Threat" Division (Band, Choir & Drill Team. He is also scheduled to go to Pennsicola for Air Crew! He said he is having "trouble" writing because his roomates keep him laughing!! I know this week they are starting PT and I was wondering if anyone has received a phone call yet?? I have not heard anything about the graduation, is Dec 5 the date? I am so glad I found other with children (ok, young men & women ) in Joshua's unit. This is so exciting.
