Hi Everyone,
Last evening I finally heard from my son. First, before I left the house, I received a wonderful letter from him and later on he actually called!! It was wonderful to hear his vice again. He said that he is enjoying BC and that he is in the band. He had 5 years experience with band in school and we are a Drum Corps family, so he was right at home. Said he was playing another drum but when the musician group came in he was moved to the bass drum, oh well, at least he is still on a drum. Also said that he has to play 2 graduations before his in Dec, but is very excited about it!! He also mentioned an "adopt a Sailor: for Thanksgiving. Is anyone out there in that area?? I am so hoping that he gets adpoted, I felt so bad when he said "If you are in town" that I could spend the day with him. Of course I won't be in town, I am in Ct!! Would love to go but my work schedule will prevent this, besides I am planning to make a weekend out of Graduation!1 Not made out of money or anything ya know. So if anyone is planning on "adopting" please let me know if you end up with my Joshua, please!! Joshua is in Division 903 Ship 06, he is the only one from Ct. Thank you and may God bless you and your families.

Cathi - that's wonderful! I am so glad you heard from him and look forward to the same thing someday soon. Miss me own lad terribly but, this site helps tremendously!
I read about the Adopt A Sailor program - usually a family signs up and can be assigned 4 Sailors. Seems like a lot to me but, obviously they know what they are doing. We are grateful that so many are willing to do such things for our future Sailors. I hope Rob is able to spend the day outside BC, if so that would be great!
Sounds good for Cory and he's 'in to it' now. Good for him!

My son, Joshua, is in SHIP 06 DIV 904. I found out today from his recruiter. Then after work I found the letter waiting in the mailbox. Josh played trumpet for 6 years. When he was younger he was part of Young Marines. I am going to check out the forum about 900 Divison to get more info. But, most importantly, we now actually have an address to send mail too! YEA!!!!

Hi Maureen. . Our sons are together...I received the form letter and although it was only two lines, he sounded very positive. He said "it's going by quick" That made me feel so much better!! I checked the netc.navy website and their graduation date is on there. So barring any unforeen problems, the date is 12/19!! I'm getting ready to make my reservations YIPEE!!

That is wonderful...I am looking forward to asking Josh a lot of questions when we get a phone call. I am also very interested in what their DIV does. Also, I saw on N4M about an article in Popular Mechanics about the battleship simulator at RTC....I read the article it was very interesting, a little nerve racking, but interesting. If anything I am looking forward to meeting at PIR.

Can you all believe we now know the grad date! I am getting more thrilled all the time. I'm same way - so many questions in all my letters to him and I want answers to all of them. I'm thinking of lewaving blank space for his answers & just make him write me on my own letter & send it back, so I know everything! Is it the current issue of PM?

I am so sorry that I didn't put what issue! Yes, it is in the current issue (11/08). Josh is going to go to A and C school in Dam Neck, VA. He is going to be an Intelligence Specialist.

I can't say for sure Esther but, that is what Rob told me too. I'm going with that unless I hear different but, am actually waiting for the grad packet to arrive to make definite plans.

OK ladies. The countdown.
Harry and I and our 19 year old daughter Ashley will get to GL area early afternoon on Thursday. Hoping to trip over to Gurnee Mills Mall for a wee bit o shopping. Then later on eat & go over to Flanagans for the Meet & Greet. Staying at Ramada Inn in Waukegan that night. I plan to drive to PIR early to get a good seat. Harry will take the shuttle over later, as he is a smoker and the wait would not set well with him. Hopefully Ashley will come early with me. It is also possible that our other son may drive up that morning & meet us at the hotel & take the shuttle over with Harry. He's on the list, so we do hope he can make it. GRADUATION whoooooo whoo! Get to see Rob and all that he has accomplished over the past 9 weeks. Then he gets on the bus to report to A school in Pensacola, FL. Then, we may go back to Gurnee Mills - who knows! We have heard Rob might be able to come home for Christmas. Cross your fingers for us. It sure would be heartwarming to have him. Either way - in 2 more days we'll get to see him, if only for a short while and we will take full advantage of that.

I just want to Congratulate all our new Sailors from Div #904 SHIP #06
They did a really great job at their graduation and we are extrememly proud of them. Now on to bigger & better things.
So, where is everyone else off to?
Rob heads to Pensacola tomorrow for a couple weeks for training, then to Norfolk, VA and a carrier.
Was everyone able to make graduation? I wish we had been able to meet more of you at the Meet & Greet.
It was great to see our lad - what changes he's made -leaps & bounds. What we prayed for.
Hugs to everyone this week of the wonderful holiday of Christmas. We hope yours is blessed in every way.
