Navy For Moms

My son has just left for BC today and Im having a very hard time with him being gone, I have so much sadness and depression even though I know this will be such a great oppertunity for him. I have feelings of guilt worring that maybe I wasnt a good mother even though I did everything for him. Did anyone else go through these kind of feelings? Ilove my kids so much and I miss him so badly. Anyone have any thoughts?

HI Susan....I know exactly how you are feeling and so do a lot of others here. That's what is so great about this site, a lot of caring people with lots of great of advice. It isn't easy in the beginning....most of us have been where you are right now...It doesn't seem like it, but it does gradually get easier....Start writing letters now and you can send a bunch all at the same time once you get his address....keep them upbeat, he misses family and home....

Have you gotten your "Hi Mom, I'm here" call yet? That one can be kinda hard too....but at least you know he's ok...

Hi Nancy thanks for sharing your thoughts,i have no idea about div.s or ship numbers yet. I just got the 30 second call about 10 min. ago. We went to South Carolina 2 weeks ago to visit my sons friend who is in nuke school what a great place. We had a blast at the beach and the shopping district. If you go visit go to folly island nice beach lots of fun.My sons friend is Logan Guard he may still be there when your son goes, Logan is a great kid. My son Bobby will be going to Florida for A school in Jan.after bootcamp. Keep in touch.

Hi Susan, Please know that you are not alone. I think that all of us at one point in time had shared these very same feelings. Please understand that we are all here for each other, when you meet others from the same graduation date as your sailor you form a group, you become each others support group. I am here if you have any questions... I promise you this it will get better. The first three weeks were an emotional rollercoaster for me, it does make us stronger. Please feel free to contact me, I am more than willing to help you get thru this journey. Take care- Lynne
