My son never once complained about his RDC. I asked him why he liked them so much. He said this" Mom, it's not that we liked them, we respected them for what they are doing. They are moulding us into Sailors. It is their job." I asked him how I could get in touch with them to thank them, he said "Mom, we are not to have any contact with them after boot camp for security reasons. But if you could, I sure would like to send them one of your Sponge O Grams." LOL For those who wonder what that is, please see my blog on how I became known even to the RDC's and Mail RPO's and public relations as Sponge Mom. heehee

Hi, thanks for offering. Do the RDC's work seven days a week for the entire time? It seems like they are always there. And do they get a break between the graduating division and a new division? Thank you for the sacrifice YOU are making. I know these guys work long days/weeks.

Haha, They do work a lot. Keep in mind that each diviosn does not have only 1 RDC, there are a few.

My son is a nuke at Goose Creek and is going sub. I need to give him something compact for Christmas and thought a watch would be good. Do you know what the Navy's regulation for watches is? I think it has to be black - if so, does the face have to be black too?
Thanks for being here for us

That is nice that you want to give him a watch. Try doing a search on this website, as I think this question has been answered before.

Kulita ~ My son is currently in A-school as a corpsman there in GL. His PIR was 8/15. Some of his group have already received their orders, while some haven't and would be on hold until further notice. Morgan is one who hasn't. I talked to him on Friday, he said word was a couple of commanders flew somewhere to find out what was going on. Where did the commanders go, why do some receive orders and others don't, and what do they do while on hold? By the way, he liked his RDC's as his division had the two top ranked. He said he'd do it again if he knew he was going to have them again, plus he'd have more fun. Please thank your husband. As Mom's we don't understand why our kids go thru the things they are made to go thru, and I hated every moment Morgan was there; but, I do know the RDC's have a job to do and that job is to make these recruits the best Navy Sailors they can be. Could you imagine what kind of Sailors we'd have if us soft hearted Mom's were running the place? ;-) lol

Oh gosh, I don't know the answer to where they went, and even if I did, I couldn't give it out because it would compromise the secruity of the commanders. In school, a sailor could be on hold for a number of reasons. Don't be alarmed. While they are on hold they will be given tasks that need to be completed on base.

I am sure many of them are so tired from Battlestations and want to sleep. But when they are given the next chance to call, they will.
