christmas batch pir 12/19 ??? i got my sons Box today did anyone else

still no word from my son Donna. I am waiting for the dreaded box. Makes things that much more real. I am going to start bugging the recruiter tomorrow. I figure I will get a phone call in a few weeks. I have started my letters. Once I get that then he will be bombarded.

Absolutely no word from my son either. I kind of expect to get the box today. The recruiter told me that he doesn't have my son's address, and that I will have to wait for that 1st letter from him. That seems to go against everything I've heard on this list, but what can ya do? I've started the letters already as well, but I would sure like to be able to start sending them!

Well, the box just cme. Luckily my son didn't have to send home the address book and paper that he brought with him. I never did get a phone call that he arrived, but he hastily scrawled on a piece of paper "sorry couldn't get thru on phone. I'll write soon. love ya.
Well, that's all it took for me to start crying again , but it was nice to see his handwriting, sloppy as it is!

I am really sorry that you ladies didn't get your 30 second call. I had about talked myself into not getting my hopes up, but the call did finally come. It was 1:30 in the morning, but it came. I am also surprised that I've gotten the box already. I wonder if it's the "luck of the draw" basically with whatever division and leader they end up with? I did suggest the night before he left for meps to call me via the calling card to make sure he could work it right since some of them have you dialing 20 or 30 numbers just getting a dial tone. My son joined in Kansas and I'm in Maryland and really have no idea what the recruiters number would be to even call for an address. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping really hard that he'll get a chance to write me soon with the address. I"ve already started writing letters and buying funny cards, etc. to send. It seems like a lifetime already that he's been gone and it's only been 5 days. I hope the next 7 weeks go by quicker!

My son left Thursday and I didn't get the call either. I was so looking forward to it. I guess "my box" will come this week. Some good news is that his recruiter told him PIR would be on the 19. I am so happy that all of us will be here for each other. Hang in there ladies....

Hi "christmas batch"

moms i hpoe everyone is doing well....oh who am i kidding we are all sitting on the ends of our seats waiting for any little tid-bit we can get. just so so simple as the box was in my sons handwritting was something for me. i can't even imagine the real send- offs. actually i just have to get thru this one. i want a phone call so much, i have my family practicing calling here collect just to make sure it's working correctly. t-moble tells me thay don't do collect calls on my cell, so now i will be mailing a calling card(when i get the address)the way my job is i don't even know myself what times i will be home to get a call. xoxox donna gerry's mom

I sure wish you could get a phone call but I doubt you get a call until the end of week 3. That is when most of us got a call. I got 1 at the end of week 3 and 1 at the end of week 4 and will get 1 Tuesday after battlestations. It gets tough but hang in there it will get better. When you get closer to graduation you will then go to excitement mode. Good Luck

My son left 10/27 and arrived there the same day. My daughter in law did not recieve a phone call, but did recieve a letter yesterday saying he called collect, T-Mobile does not accept collect calls. He arrived safely and that was about it. The return address on his letter had Division 032 which is scheduled for PIR 12/19. No box or any other correspondence yet. I can't wait to see him. Hope everyone is doing well.

since my son left then also and i think he will pir 12/19 also does that mean he has the same div. number and mayber i could send my letters out? his recuriter didnot have it yet. also i just found out about tmobile that really stinks i was wearing my cell on me like a 2cd skin waiting for a call that i can't even recieve on it so i called them and they said i can set something up with western union that we enable my phone to accept the calls, it's expensive i thin the guy said $15 for 6 min. but i could be wrong i was having a meltdown day when i called them. but of course i am setting it up. now we sleep with 3 phone his cell, my cell and the house phone, i carry them around all day doing layndry etc...it's nuts. i just miss my son so much, it is so quiet here without him, his siter can't stand it either our home will never be the same. donna- gerry's mom

oh my gosh, I'll bet that's why I didn't get a phone call. We just switched over to voice over internet with ATT about a month ago, and I don't think they would put collect calls through. I didn't think to send my son with a phone card, but after being on this list, realized that he'd need one, so that is included already in the first letter I'll send when I get his address. Oh, I feel SO lousy now, thinking that's why I didn't get his call. Now the note he scrawled that was in his kid-in-a-box makes sense to me. It said "sorry, couldn't get thru on phone"...that is SO lousy of the phone co.

HI Donna,

sorry to hear that you have such a bad recruiter on hand :( They do have the address as soon as they assigned to a Div. I had my sons address 2 days after he got to Great Lakes. If the Recruiters office is close to you just drop in. The Form Letter should get to you about a week and a half after he left it will have the address on it. And it does not mean that your son is in the same div. as Sylvia's. They usually have about 10-13 Div. graduate so he could be in any one of them. And Donna I would recommend to send him some Phone Cards but make sure you activate them before you send them to him, as the activation it's very lengthy and charges them already over there :)
