christmas batch pir 12/19 ??? i got my sons Box today did anyone else

I just got my form letter!! and yes, my son said that he tried to call, but neither our house or cell phones would accept collect calls. I wonder if that was worse for him than it was for me? I am confused about his address. The one he circled for me doesn't follow the same format as what I see on the GL website. There is no ship #, just a ship name (USS Chicago), and no street address, but a building #. Anyone have any advice? In the meantime, I'll use what he sent, but I sure want his letters to get to him as quickly as possible. Also, he is in DIV 035 and the website states that PIR is 12/19!!! Time to make reservations!

My brother is in that division. I saw this address a couple of days before we got the address. The address they gave us was a different format. Odd right?

Jeannie, this is exactly what happened inour home and i was fit to be tied, i had verizon remove the block in "april" when he signed up and just thinking i was paranoid i had someone call our home collect and it was blocked. verizon said they took the order but never put it thru, then tried to tell me 24-48 hour wait. i flipped on them and they had it unblocked 2hrs. later.also i was carrying my cell phone t-mobile (another crappy service) even into the bathroom only to find out thanks to this site that it doesn't work for collect calls. then when i got the navy letter with the comment gerry said in it that he tried to call, i want to melt, i felt so awful that he was trying to call home and was getting rejected. anyway i ran out when i got his address and mailed the letters i had prepared explaining to him. also i read on here to activate the calling cards before you send them. my son is div 035 uss chicago build. 7117. we are the only 2 people on here so-far that i have read that have done this, i hope our sons find humor in it. all along i was thinking i was so phone ready!i still can't believe it,who knows when i'll hear his voice now he may have stoppped trying to call and won't understand until he recieves his letters. i would mail his letter just like it says. i want to make reservations now too, do you think it's too soon, i think we have to wait for the grad. package to arrive,well we are still figuring out if we should drive or fly there could be snow or something out there by then. .also i was hoping since that is the last pir before xmas that they would let him leave with us right then? donna gerry's mom

My son's recruiter said he absolutely didn't have the address, that it would take a week to 10 days before he was assigned to a DIV, and he (the recruiter) wouldn't have it until then. When I got home from the office the form letter was waiting for me. So much for a helpful recruiter....

I called my brothers recruiter today and its been exactly a week today since he has been at GL. He said he doesnt have it yet. I hope I get a address soon because his birthday is the 9th and would really like him to atleast have a card. He won't even be able to call because he will only be in his second week. I miss him. my whole family does. can't wait for pir.

I just received my form letter today!....It says she is in division 033 so by looking at the link it says a dec. 19 PIR...So after the graduation will my daughter be allowed to leave with us or do they leave at a later date?

Coty's dad got the 30 second call tonight. He called me to let me know. But I got the offical letter where they circle their address today, still no box though. Its hard Coty could have sent it to his dads in Florida or to me here in NC. But now I know his divison and ship. Div 039 Ship 11 Kearsarge.

You should be able to get the address from your child's recruiter. I got mine from my daughter's recruiter today and it just took him a few minutes to look it up on the computer. I don't understand why some recruiters are telling people they don't have the address -- if my daughter's recruiter could look it up in just a few minutes, I don't see why other recruiters couldn't do the same thing? If it were me, I would call the recruiter again and point that out. Are they new recruiters? Of course, LOL, I was calling and leaving several voicemails [he was out of the office] asking him to call me back. I think he knew I would stalk him until he gave it to me. LOL.
