Blue Candle Lighting on Christmas Day. Several have asked,,, is there a special blue candle? No
Several have asked how many days and how long.? The burning of the candle length is determined by the one lighting the candle.

Once, again this lighting of the blue candle represents the sailors, recruits and military that will not be joining their families during the holidays. This being done because we want to remember the families that are seperated. Some of our children and spouses are coming home and some are not so let us all remember the great sacrifice our men and women do in the service of our country.
Remember any kind of candle will do ,,,blue electric or wax. We thankyou and if you want to comment please do.. also RSVP your attendance if you are doing so in the Events.

My blue candle is lit in my Chicago, IL home. Even if no one knows why, it helps me this year when my son is not at home.

I will be lighting my blue candle from Southern California.
My son is away on his first deployment on the RMD.

Hi Ladies, I hope all of you who light candles will listen to the song "Washington Square" by (San Francisco artist) Chris Isaak during your lighting. It is a Christmas song for those who are apart at the holidays---written by Chris Isaak and dedicated to military families who are far apart on Christmas. It is on his "Chris Isaak Christmas" CD or you can U Tube it. Good luck getting through it without tears....but it is a beautiful song.
Happy Holidays to all!

Hi Patricia, I just listened to Washington Square (where are the darn tissues). It was beautiful. My son had to leave yesterday for his first assignment so the words really hit me hard. I will be playing it for the candle lighting.

Hi Donnita, I'm so glad you could listen to this song but I'm just imagining how it hit you with your son having just left on assignment. Powerful words. And just what is the matter with the Navy anyway.....sending our sailors out just before Christmas??? Don' they know these guys need home cooking for the holidays??? I will be thinking of you when I light my candle.

I bought a blue candle to light on Christmas and all holiday, including my sons birthday. I have taken this one step furthere and bought an electric single candle stick and used a blue bulb to sit in my window. This way everynight I can show my support for sailors. Now is a great time to find the single electric or battery candle sticks. I even found mine for half off of the Christmas decorations. I am lucky this year, my son is on his way home, but we know he won't be next year. His next duty station is Gitmo.

We definitely will be lighting blue candles in Syracuse, NY and Vero Beach, FL for all of our Military home and aboard. My electric blue lights will stay in my windows until the Vella returns safely home. God Bless them all!

May God put his loving arms all around them and his shield of protection all over them. God Bless each and everyone of you and your sailors.

This is such a GREAT idea !!!!!!! We will be lighting a blue candle in Deer Park, TX. Our son just went to his 1st duty station in Oceana on Dec 5th, so will not be able to come home for Christmas. His PO asked him what his plans were for Christmas, and invited him to his home. I'm very grateful that he will be spending Christmas with a family, just wish it was ours. Thank you all for this GREAT idea.
