Does anyone know any good hotels to stay at? Because I’m getting really bad reviews on a lot of them?

NavyMom3051, where have you been looking for reviews? I know there are past discussions that you could search for in the Boot Camp Mom's group where others have shared who have recently been to PIR. We stayed at Red Carpet Inn, because I am sort of miserly, and I wanted free internet, and close to RTC, and free shuttle (but that didn't work right, but it ended up being for the better for us.). I have heard mostly good reviews on the Navy Lodge, although, some not so good, and the weekend we were there, in Aug, I think their power went out and they didn't have breakfast. Oh, we just had a continental breakfast, but that was okay, for leaving at 6:30 AM PIR morning. Also, the motel itself is not up-to-date and as fancy as some, maybe even an eye sore for some (but I have stayed worse) however, it was clean, and that is all that matters to me. For two nights and with our discount, we stayed cheaper than the Hampton Inn we stayed at on our drive up (but a better breakfast which I had planned for). As it turned out, we also checked out of our room at 1 AM on Saturday, to drive to O'Hara airport and then head south from there towards home - so, I am just as glad I didn't pay extra for a motel room and a breakfast. Flannigan's restaurant is also next door, and we went over and ordered pizza and brought it to the motel room as my son only ended up having a 2 hour liberty time on Friday (not our expectation - but that was what happened - Navy matters first.)

If you are picky or squeamish, then no on Red Carpet Inn - but it worked for us.

Like I said, keep searching this site, there are other discussions on motels in the area.

Have a good day!

NavyMom3051 Me and my husband daughter son in law stayed at the Residence inn in fact there was around 6 other families that stayed there also. we had a living room kitchen with all the pots pans utensils very nice and quite they serve a continental breakfast also they will have a free dinner. they decorate your door for your sailor. Very Nice no problems at all, they have a laundry room upstairs. The hotel is down the street from Wal mart and a few restaurants and the meet and greet. you can call and let them know you are there for PIR they may have discounts I went thru Travelocity. Hope this helps.

Did the Residence Inn have a shuttle service?

Yes they did just let them know what time you need the shuttle they picked us up at 6:15 and they also picked us up right after, it cost 4 bucks a person and they are very friendly. they have a nice continental breakfast and also put on a nice dinner for those who would like to join. They decorate the door for your Sailor, it was a Nice surprise for him, so let them know you are there for PIR. We had a very nice stay it worked out for us because I had cooked my son a Big nice breakfast Sat. morning with all his favorites. I took some lounge clothes that he can change into and he just wanted to relax, then in the afternoon we took him shopping to Gurnee mills and target and had some good pizza pie.
