Navy For Moms

Sandra

Anyone else have a son on Ship 13, Div 088 or Mom located in Terre Haute, IN???

My son left 9 December and this is from the address on his first letter. I would LOVE to connect with another Mom or family whose son is on this ship. I'm a single mom with 5 kiddos still at home.

I'm not sure how the Navy divisions work. Do you know if that means they probably are training literally together? If so, we should trade names and ask them if they know each other. Where are you located?

I'll bet you miss him. It's hard but it will pass; time that is. I didn't get a call either. I have only gotten one letter. I've sent several and did talk to him a few days ago and he said he has gotten none of my letters. Will you be able to make it to the graduation on Jan. 30th?

I think even though the address was wrong it will eventually make it to him. I have to hope that the people they have working in the mail rooms make every effort to figure out where the recruit is. Do you know if his parents have gotten any letters yet and whether he has said he got any from them? I know it's hard. We want them to know we love and miss them and are afraid that if they don't hear from us they will be sad. My son said that when they get letters, they aren't allowed to open them until Sunday. Seems cruel that they should have to put away a letter for days. But at least they have one, I guess. He said he sees them sneak but cannot be caught opening them All I can say is if we keep sending them our guys will get them in one full swoop and won't THAT make their day!

That is such a great idea about numbering the letters. I need to do that. They can see how many we've written and how many to look forward to. I'm so glad they didn't find the letter in his Bible. How good for him to have that letter to read each night.

Hi, Sandra! My daughter's boyfriend is Ship 13 Div 088. She's gotten 2 letters, but no phone calls. We told him to always call his mother if he gets to make any calls. Any idea if they are Grad and Go?

Hi to Kristin as well! Not being able to go to PIR is hard... I know... when my then boyfriend went to Air Force basic 23 years ago, I couldn't get time off work to go. But, it's not forever, it's just for now -- even as hard as that might be. It's really good that his parents will be there for him. You could send something really special for them to give to him.... are they going to video the PIR? Ask them to also video other moments of their visit, or even all of it. There are several clips of past PIR's under the Videos tab at the top of the page if you want to see what they're like.
Have you joined the PIR January 30 group? or Girlfriends, Fiances and Wives group?

There's a PIR Jan 30 group? How cool. I'll have to check it out.

My oldest son graduated from basic in the Army 5 years ago. He was at Ft. Jackson, NC and I was in Idaho. It simply was impossible for me to go. But there was another mom there who took pictures and sent me a wonderful letter. I will be forever grateful to her for that. Chicago is only about 3 hours from me now.
Cyndie, email me your daughter's boyfriend's name and I'll see if they know each other. Michael said in his division there were 88 men and they are now down to 79. lechsand@gmail.com

Our sons both left on the same day and are in the same division and on the same ship. My son Michael spoke to me on the phone Christmas Eve and said that out of the original 88, there are 79 guys hanging in there. I didn't get a letter from the Navy either, but my son said they should graduate Jan 30. He is trying to get the clearance also. How disappointed is your son about having to pick a new job?

Will you be at his graduation?

I thought I did reply already, but maybe I erased it. I'm Kathy, Robert's Mom. He's Ship 13, Div 088. I'm in Orlando, FL. I haven't gotten any info on PIR. Did you already receive the information??

I only got what information my son gave me. From what I understand, the packets are mailed out the 3rd or 4th week. Michael told me that they will graduate on 30 January. From reading here, I saw that they can only have 4 people (don't bother asking for more) and it is your son who writes down on a form who will be there for him. Since I have 5 kids here, I had to choose which 3 I would take with me (So hard!!) and mailed the information to Michael.
