Navy For Moms

Sandra

Anyone else have a son on Ship 13, Div 088 or Mom located in Terre Haute, IN???

My son left 9 December and this is from the address on his first letter. I would LOVE to connect with another Mom or family whose son is on this ship. I'm a single mom with 5 kiddos still at home.

Did you already book the flight and such or are you waiting for Navy confirmation? I figure I need to get a move on it if I want to get a decent price! Besides having to choose the 3, how are you holding up?

I will be driving. I'm only about 3 hours away in Indiana so we won't need to fly. I think if I were you, I would at least look into flights and keep an eye on price and stuff. I have read that there is a lodge on post (or at least by post) that is especially for Navy families to stay but I didn't read that on this site. We'll find out in our packets.

How am I holding up? I keep occupied. If I can't think, I can't reflect, and if I can't reflect...well, the tears stay in check and I remain as sane as I was before. How about you?

All day long I think about what I will write in my next letter. I worry mostly that he will be depressed. I worry about his "dental work" that they performed his first week in. They pulled all 4 wisdom teeth while he had a bad cold and tore up his mouth pretty good. I worry, because we Moms don't seem to know how to do anything else. I think it is what keeps us fueled.

I'll have to look into the Lodge. Sounds great!

I'm hanging in there. His 21st birthday is Monday, so that doesn't help keep the water works in check. And I didn't get a call for Christmas, which I was praying for!!

We (Dennis (hubby), David (other son) and myself) are all coming up for PIR.

The wisdom teeth thing doesn't sound fun, but at least it's done! Robert had some work to be done, too, but he didn't tell me about it - if he's had it.

Funny, the daily tears have stopped, except when i get on N4M and read about a new Mom and her worries, fears and tears. Then it comes back. But, like you, I just keep busy and keep writing.

Hi sandra ,no phone call yet,but two letters,He told me that they are in a push divion and if all goes wel they might graduate two weeks early,I did't know if you had heard the same in a letter,I have been writing him as often as I can and giving his address to his friends, In his last letter he sounded down,I am sure he is because of not getting clearence for the the jobs he went in for,and noe he has to pick a new one.Iwhis I could just talk to him for five mins.I Wrote to my son and told him I was talking to you on nfm and ack him if he knew your son first name only

Hey Susan;
I have been overwhelmed with stuff...but I'm back.
What is "push divion?" They might graduate 2 weeks early?? Are they pushing them through everything? Is that what it means? I have not heard anything about it. I only got the one letter from Michael really early on and the phone call on Christmas Eve.
I'm sending a letter to him today and will mention your son. I have no idea if all the materials I faxed last week will be good enough for my son's clearance to go through. If he gets depressed about anything it will be that. I told him in a letter that if he doesn't then it is for a reason and that a better job is there. I did make it clear also that he has 180 days to get out if he so chooses. It would not be my best advice for him because I think we need to make the best of things (unless they are unbearable) but the option is there.
Have you heard anything new? I hope we can meet at graduation. Have you gotten a packet yet?

Hi Sandra,
My son left from Atlanta, GA on Dec. 9th. His address is Ship 13 but Div 089. Maybe the ship is just the building they are in. Has your son given you a graduation date yet? Mine told me Jan 30 but that doesn't seem like enough time. I wish both you and your son a happy and prosperous new year. God Bless you and your family.

Regards,
Nancy

Hi Nancy; You are right. I found out today that the ship is actually a building named after an actual ship. My son will be graduating Jan 30th.

Thank you for your good wishes. I pray for the same for you and yours.

hi all.......I got a letter from my son saying he was sick .......said there were alot in his division that have been sick. Anyone heard anything about this? Mine has been running a fever of 101.6
I write to him everyday and he's been writing back pretty good lately. I have booked everything. We got a package deal and couldn't pass it up. Can't wait to meet you all.

Tammy;
I got a letter last Wednesday from my son and he said that a lot of the guys have been sick. Michael had a fever of 102.6 and had to wait until he passed an inspection and did a PT test to go to sick call. I am concerned about his passing by the 30th because he said he has not taken his swimming lessons (he was not a strong swimmer and needed some touch up) and is falling behind on some other tests. I haven't even made reservations (I am driving) hoping I hear something soon to know whether I actually will be leaving for the 30th. Have you heard anything more?
