Anyone have a Sailor in DIV 088

Hi all. I was just wondering if anyone else here has a Sailor in DIV 088.......would love to meet with ya if possible when the big day comes. I think I am more nervous then my son is. He will be one in front holding the flag. He got to call home Friday nite and told me about it. He said...."Mom if I mess up then everyone behind will too.........lol" I told him " well one good thing is that you all will be doing the same so none of us civilians will even notice....we will think it's suppose to be like that.

Talking with alot of laughter sure does help when they get their phone call. We got to talk for an hour and it seemed like it flew by.

Anyways........if you are going to be at the GL on Jan 30th for the big day....just hollar at me.

Update......I got letter from Brandon today. PIR is on for Jan. 30th. He got a 5.0 on some of his inspection stuff and a ribbon for shooting a 9mm (now that can be scary) . The letter was dated on the 16th. Said they still have their gas chamber, firefighting, battle stations, damage control and captains cup. (That's a whole lot to do in two weeks)
The division is still honor.......they get all the flags and pennants they can get right now. He is lined up behind their PFC Jason (Kathy) He doesn't know what caused them to get sick. Says it's still like 40 below wind chill......so better pack everybit of warm cloths you have. If any of ya have heard anything from your sailor......please fell free to add what you have heard too.

i too got a letter - sounds like they are really busy but all are feeling better. the only thing is it sounds like he changed his school or something - thought he was going to pensicola florida for 17 weeks now he told his brother he is staying there for 24 weeks but not sure if the job changed or what - im gald to know that they are still in the honor part - thought jason said gas chamber was today or tomorrow and that battlestations is next wed or thursday

My son John will graduating on the 30th with Div 88. We did get the packet but so far I don't know about where he'll be going after graduating. I'm sure he already knows but he hasn't told us yet. We are so excited and proud. We are from Tennessee and will be driving up either wednesday (late) night or early thursday. Has there been any meet and greet plans "scheduled"? He sounds really upbeat and excited.

Kathy, Sorry it took so long to get back to you. It's been busy around my house! Anyway we live in Cleveland TN about 25 minutes from Chattanooga and about 30 minutes from Dalton Georgia. My email is [e-mail], I don't mind giving you my email address.Well when John signed up between the time he signed the papers to leaving was exactly 14 days. There wasn't alot of time so they might have told him but he was fast tracking and maybe it didn't sink in. He's doing excellent and sounds so up beat. The job he signed up for is Navy Corpsman. I think he may be staying there for his A school. The letter I got on thursday says they are competeing for "Hall of Fame" he sounds so excited. I will definatly check out the meet and greet if I can. Johns on ship 13 where is your son? Anyway we are staying to Sunday so maybe we can meet up even if I can't get there in time for the meet & greet.

Yea they are busy.......My son's letter was a week old.......don't know why it took so long to get it? So yea they are probably doing their stuff like Jason was saying. It's just that he listed everything that they have to do in the next two weeks. I hope they all did great in them........Brandon is staying there for school too. But I know he wishes he could go to FL .....since it's warmer there......(lol).
I am getting too excited about going up there to see them. It's been too long.......

what school is brandon doing there? i am slightly confused about all of this - thought he ws doing avaiation stuff but not sure now - wondering if he made a change = recruiter wasnt much help when i tried to find out what other sschools were up there

I believe it is Aviation Electronics Technician (AT). There are different jobs in it. Brandon will be learning on how to shoot the missels and read the controls. So he might be doing something like that. Not for sure if there are more fields in that subject.

Hi Tammy hows it going ,any word from your son ,i got a letter this week just saying they have been busy getting things done and did't say anything about battlestation.We are leaveing on thurday mouning my flight is 9:15 going into Midway
And staying at the Mariott , Our you going to the meet and greet,I hope to be there.it not to far from were we are staying
I am going print out a map and mark the places we want to go when we are there.looking forward to seeing you at some point ,I hope we can find out were to sit at PIR so we can see our boys div easy ,at least you will be able to find your son easy,Can't wait

hi tammy= in my last letter from jason he drew me a map of where they will be standing = from what i understand of that tiny little map - the will be the 2/3 from the end - so sitting and looking at them they will be on the far right -away from the big doors that let them in - my son will be carring the ships flag so i think this info is pretty reliable = that is unless i have my left and rights mixed up (haha)- i think they line up by heights and taper on that way

Thanks for the information Kathy......I hope we can get some great photos of them coming in. I am already getting my stuff packed instead of waiting till the night before. Cuz I know I will forget something....LOL
I wonder if we can have a sign or something when we go to meet and greet. Looks like there will be alot of others who have sailors in different divisions. What do you think?

would be nice to know who all the other 088 moms are so we dont miss any - when are you getting there? are you staying close by? have made all plans except transportation - little worried about driving from airport - thinking about taking the shuttle due to i hate driving in snow =getting into midway on thur at 100 - hoipe to hear from jason before that that all is well
