I just got a real letter from my son!!! :-) I am so happy. He told me his graduation is the 27th of February. Which is odd to me because I am counting from Jan 7 and that is only 7 weeks? I don't know if I should buy the plane ticket now or what?
He said they get like 15 minutes to eat,10 mins to shower and there are like 70 other guys so they gotta be quick! He did say his RDC is cool and they get letters everyday :-). He also said he will get like 3 phone calls the whole time he is in bootcamp. I can't wait for the first one! I hope all of you get letters today!!

Trish -- We got a real letter today too! My son left Jan. 7 and yesterday we got a short letter that he had written his 2nd night in BC but they must not have let him mail it right away. It was a downer, he said he wasn't liking it much. Today's letter was longer and more upbeat. He was trying to keep up with what he needs to learn, likes the food there and said his division mates are cool. He said his grad date is also Feb. 27, and he was going to get his wisdom teeth pulled. He said he gets homesick when he thinks about it, but is looking ahead to graduation and being a real sailor. I'm so proud of him...and of course we are keeping up with sending him letters. I'm also looking forward to a phone call!

Jason left on Jan. 8th & I still haven't gotten a letter yet. I hope it's soon. His PIR date is listed as March 13th on the website.
Hey Trish, thanks for sharing the info in your letter, it helps!!

We got Drew's first letter home on Friday. He is doing great and actually had me laughing so hard I had tears running down my face!! Said it's not that bad, just have to pay attention and follow the rules. Maybe all those years of Catholic school are paying off!! When he described the clothes they have to wear outside, I could just imagine them all bundled up trying to march! He said they look like a bunch of "Ralphies" (from the movie A Christmas Story) and when one slips and falls down because of the ice on the sidewalk, they have trouble getting back up because of all the clothes!! He too mentioned Feb 27 as a possible PIR date?? I don't want to make any arrangements yet in case it changes. He did tell me boot camp didn't start until Jan 13, the first week was busy processing. He told me they do a lot of IT (intensive training) so he's working on his sexy beach body for Pensacola!! He too told me to keep the letters coming, it is the only contact they have with the outside world. However, to you moms, when I got the first official form letter that, Drew had written a few lines on the bottom, that address was DIFFERENT than the one he had on his return address. He did mention though that he did get my letter (to the original) address. I've honestly lost count of how many I've sent. He said for me to send pictures, but no nudies!! Like I would! They have to show all photos to their RDC..So needless to say, the joy and relief I felt when I FINALLY got that letter. Debra, like you, I was at work, doing someone's hair and felt like leaving mid-color to run home and get it! It was torture finishing her hair! (Yes, she looked great when I was done!!) I must say, the Military is doing a great job of cutting the apron strings!! Everyone have a great day! Almost forgot, Drew said on Sunday's from 7am-1pm is free time. This is when they can write (and hopefully phone home!) I am not leaving this house all day today! Libby

I know this is a late reply, but I just found this site. My son is also in Div 111 on the Triton (or now, as the address says, ship 12. I've received several letters from my son, as well as the official notice from the Navy (which I'm sure you've all received) that confirms the 2/27 date. Are any of you going to the graduation? My husband and I are flying from So.Cal on the 26th. We're meeting other parents at Flanagans that night.

I wonder if our kids know each other? How big is a division, anyway?

Well my son is div 110 ship 12 so I guess they are together. I know Yvonne's son knows my son. I just wrote him a letter and told him that. I can't wait to meet everyone at Flannigans. And yes we will be there on the 26th also.

Trish, which division is Yvonne's son in? I wonder if he knows my son? Matt is now operating the sound board in church and is apparently responsible for the church roster, so he may know quite a few of the kids whose parents we'll be meeting.

Marti~ her son is in division 110 too. I saw that your son is div 111 they are all together. But just go on her page and message her. Can't wait to meet you!

I'm getting very excited! We made a last minute decision to bring my 16 y/o daughter, too. Now the family will be together! See you at Flanagans!
