For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Arrival at boot camp
I got my call from my recruit last night at 11:00 telling me he was there and safe. Everything you read says they need to sleep, sleep, sleep before leaving. However, he had to be up at 4:00 a.m. to go to MEPS for final checkup and sign contracts. They took him to the airport at 1:00 p.m. to catch a 7:35 p.m. flight to Chicago. By the time he called me he had almost been up 24 hours. They have to be exhausted after a day like this. Did everyone else's recruit have a similar day the day of departure for boot camp?

My son is finishing his fourth week and he was tired and caught a cold at the end of week three. It all gets better though.

Thank you all; this makes me feel better! My son hasn't been sick in years, but got up with a fever last Saturday. After taking him to the doctor over the weekend they said it was just a virus. He was fever free by Monday, but still tired and not 100%. He left on Tuesday and flew out last night. As their mom, it is hard not to worry, but you just have to realize they will be fine and it is what it is. No news is good news, I guess!

It is very Hard not to worry that is a UNDERSTATMENT in itself, My suggestion to you is to read.....read everything you can on what his Rate/Job is everything here on the sites, and Keep BUSY! It is easier said than done Believe me I know......I was the biggest cry baby thought I was losing my mind LOL! but if you need anything Please reach out! any Concerns or Questions. Hi Dudesboy22, my son arrive on Thursday as well! Everything you said is very similar to my sons experience! I’ve been thinking of him and reading the info on this sight and it is helpful to learn what they will be experiencing. I read that since it is a holiday weekend they might be getting a little more down time. I pray they get some sleep but it’s also got to be so new and exciting too. ⚓️❤️⚓️

Yes! My daughter left last weekend from Seattle. They were supposed to take off at 12:30. Their flight was delayed to to bad weather in Chicago. I told her to sleep while she could. Of course she didn't. They finally landed at 11:30 our time 1:30am Chicago time. She called and said she made it. Her things were being shipped home. She would call in 3 weeks. Friday FedEx delivered her box. Can't wait to talk to her!

Emily, The Form Letter arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC in most cases. The first "real" letter will arrive soon after. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.
