Navy For Moms

My son is in A school in Pensacola and said that a female sailor went jogging outside the base last night alone and was robbed, shot 3 times in the face and killed. Apparently it is a VERY rough neighborhood and robberies are common.

Please warn your loved ones to be careful there.

How sad for this family, my thoughts are with them. Lots of questions about this, there is so much running area on the base why would she venture outside the base to run. You literally have to run over a bridge to leave the base? The base is in a shady district, fairly run down neighborhoods, lots of businesses, out of business. There is no need to leave the base to run, there are miles of paved streets on the base. How sad for this young girl.

That's right, blame the victim. I'm sure that's what her family needs to hear.

I can think of three questions:
Who did it?
How do you catch him/her/them?
Lethal injection or electric chair?

My heart goes out to the family of this Sailor - My son is friends with the girls roommate and everyone is very upset - OF COURSE. The Navy did talk to them about safety.
I hope the can find who did this it is very scary to think of my son being there:(

Lady Hamilton, not blaming the victim, its horrible for anyone who is killed for no reason, Nobody deserves to die like that.

You are clearly questioning the motives of the victim, not the criminal. Perhaps these issues need to be addressed at some point, but raising them before her family has a chance to deal with their loss is in extremely poor taste.

She had no motive, she certainly did not do this for the outcome. This was a blog about safety, thats what I commented on, If it was a condolence card to the family my comments were certainly not warranted or needed. I am not going to address the issue, I am sure the Navy will do that, and the family will grieve for her loss possibly for the rest of their lives, as I would for my daughter and you for yours. The poor girl maybe wasnt even aware of the area, I was just stating what it is like there, in response to the original blog comment.
BE CAREFUL IN PENSACOLA.

Prayers to the Friends and family of this young sailor.

Very sad- I've passed the warning on to my son and daughter in law. Son works the night shift and I always worry about her safety while he's at work. Scary stuff.

Kathy,
I for one did not see your comments as blaming the victim. I saw it as merely stating the obvious based on your knowledge of the base. Speaking as a mom that will have a son attending Pensacola for A school I truly appreciate your input and will share this with him. If your input prevents even one sailor from the same tragedy...her death will not be in vain. (I'm sure her family will feel the same way) Our condolences to the family of this sailor.

Thank you Laurie B, I was only stating the obvious, if you would like any information that I may have knowledge on about Pensacola please add me as your friend and I will answer any questions you may have.

Not that it really matters, but Kathy's comment about having to "run over a bridge to leave the base" clearly indicates that she doesn't even know where Corry Station is. Obviously.

Not that it really matters, I clearly dont care what you think, obviously. You only seem to need to keep badgering your point. There are two bases in Pensacola, right next to each other. Its still the same place, Pensacola. Mabye you dont even know where Pensacola is, obviously.
