Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son leaves for Boot camp on Tuesday. I am just learning to navigate through this site and you are all so supportive. Not sure what to expect the next week. Any thoughts to help me get through would be appreciated.  I guess my biggest concern is not getting to talk to my Son every day for eight weeks.  It seems that contact will get better when he gets to school.

What is PIR? What are the beeps when you are on this site? I have a feeling I will be spending alot of time here in the next few weeks. Thank you for listening!

PIR is Pass In Review= graduation...the rcts just call it graduation. The beeps are when N4M's are posting and logging on and off....I think in the chat room. Not entirely sure but think so.

Your son can take a cell phone to update you along the way, make the last call before packing it up to be sent home. Make sure you send him an ACTIVATED calling card and he knows how to use it.

I got rid of the annoying beep once but I can't remember how I did. Sorry. :(

BQB - I bet you turned off your speaker....
You are so funny. You know my 22 year old son is perfect for your daughter. He wants a trophy wife with an Einstein IQ. He proclaims he will make tons of money to be able to afford a TW. He is good kid - a lot of fun to be with, plays the guitar, good at chess & poker, was a scratch golfer in high school (of number of his junior competitors got their cards this year). Best part - comes with a great MIL & FIL. He is in OK - going to college - so how do we arrange a meeting?
left you a pm
