Saturday is a training day, while Sunday is "holiday routine". They still do everything in a group, but there is some down time to write letters, iron uniforms, polish their boots, study, go to church.
SheCanDoIt, the first weekend does not include holiday routine, so no church or letter writing that weekend. The first weekend does include learning how to do things the Navy way and labeling things. Holiday routine begins the second Sunday after arrival for most recruits (the first Sunday after the recruit is in the permanent ship).
I left info for you on your My Page.
You are very welcome.
