My son will spend Christmas at bootcamp. Is there anything we're allowed to send him other than a card or letter??

I love the candle idea by the way. I will be sure to do this as well. Although my Sailor will be home, I will burn it for those who will not be. What a great way to honor those who will be away.

They don't have a lot of room to store photos in their A drawer.

I know JUST how you feel. Our son will not be home this Christmas either - PHOOEY! Oh well........I've been sending him a Christmas Card a day, most of them funny and sometimes I slip in an inspirational saying or joke as well. SOOZ

Nancy - GREAT idea! do you mind if i reprint on our other site?? And as for the musical cards....all depends on their RDC's. Lauren told me in a letter, "RDC XXX walks over and hands me a card and says, I Sense Music" She didnt get in trouble. He just wanted to hear it. She said it was funny.

My son was in bootcamp last Christmas. He was very clear that all he could get was cards and letters. Anything else would have been confiscated and that person would get an earful from the leaders. They did get Christmas as an 'easy' day or whatever they called it and that was the only time he called home other than the night he got there. He actually called and spoke for hours. Best wishes and Merry Christmas to your sailor and family.

Nwigs idea is just giftcards and $. Both can be put in their wallet. I'm taking the chance and doing it. Except for being stingy with phonecalls her RDC's seem to be pretty cool. And since I've had no phonecalls yet, I'm living for Christmas day. I hope its a long call!!

Paula I am also hoping for a call then if I don't get one before then. Berta's been gone for 2-1/2 weeks and it seems like forever.

Yesterday was 5 weeks with no contact except letters. So I feel ya! All I want for Christmas is a phone call from my baby gurl! =)

We sent cards and pics to bc not sure why Christmas is any difeerent than Halloween cards and thinking of you cards. NO musical ones. We printed lots of pics on regular paper so it did not take up too much space for storage issues. We would send pics in corners and then write letters on the rest of the page. Be creative and make it fun. They will have good food and lots of company there. Celebrate and take lots of pics and share at PIR. God bless and keeping all of our sailors in my prayers, and of course the families too.
