Navy For Moms

My son is coming home for Christmas, and is bringing with him a sailor that would otherwise be alone for Christmas. I think this is just wonderful, but am really having trouble figuring out what to get this young man as a gift. Any suggestions? I just can't bear him being at our house for Christmas morning and not having something to open...

I figured I would answer my own question and do a little research. These great bags are from LLBean.

Good Morning ! If you can give him some calling cards , visa so that he can get what he wants. Find out from your son where is this Seaman from ? I hope this helps a little . God Bless You for taking him in for the holidays .

Wow! Thanks everyone for your wonderful thoughts and suggestions. Karen, as for your question of trying to figure out what he likes and shop.... I have asked my son what he likes and for suggestions, but I got the typical 19 year old response... "i dunno.. something cool..." LOL.

Thank you all for your responses, its really appreciated, and I'm getting some pretty good ideas.

If they have and ipod or other mp3 player, a new set of Skull Candy earphones/earbuds. My geek promises me they're the coolest brand out there.

All of the above are wonderful....even helping me with my son in A school. What about baking him a batch of cookies or brownies? You could give him a really cute coupon and then bake them the day before he leaves and let him take them back. This is my son and his friends favorite thing to have around in the evenings.

That is a good idea about the cookies. My mom is going to cook him and my sailor both a batch of cookies to take back with them. That makes our sailors happy, as well as all of their friends back in Cali!

the arm bands for putting your ipod in when you run are pretty neat and hard to find out here because everyone is buying them as fast as the stores get them.

You guys are so great! I really like the idea of the navyrackpack. My son will be on a carrier (the George Bush) as an AO. The contact folks at navyrackpacks.com indicated the carrier folks all say the extra wide size is best. Does anyone have any confirmation of this? I want to go ahead and order but would feel so much more confident if I knew that size will work.

Yes, that is what they told me as well. I ordered an extra wide one for my sailor on the USS Nimitz. He hasn't received it yet so I don't have any feedback from him.
