Thanks for the nice words Nancy. And congratulations on almost 25 years of marriage!

I was so worried that I might miss a call yesterday, I was at the beach and went for a swim... when I got back I did have a missed call but it was from my friend. I was so glad I didn't miss a call from my bf. I'm happy for the div 930 people that got calls, but wish our div would get one of those longer calls at some point!!

I'm disappointed that I won't make PIR, but since I live 2 hours from A school my bf wants me to meet him at his A school for the weekend instead of PIR. His parents will be at PIR so he won't be left alone thankfully.

Katie, I think DIV 217 will be calling on friday or saturday this week, I believe is when we get our long 45minute phone call after Battlestations is over.
I am looking forward to it too.
sorry your missing PIR, we will all take lots of pics and vids for you:) But at least you live close to his A school. Im only 4 hours from my husbands SUB and A school so its not bad for me either

Hey Stormy, I'm confused about when BS is. I thought it would be on the 9th or 10th?

I thought I saw somewhere that once they start BS they stop receiving letters... is that true?

My husband told me to stop writing on June 5th so I dont think that is true..
And From what I have heard BS is on the 4th

Hey Ladies, when you get a chance, you have to go over to the April 2009 Boot Camp forum and read Karen's PIR experience with her son. It will melt your heart. Right now, it is around page 4 on the forum.

Christieanna I hope you don't mind... I copied this from your post on PIR 6/12 group so it would be easier to find.

This was posted yesterday so keep that in mind for the days. So today they should be doing fire fighting and test 3.

"FOR DIV 217: apparently they had gas chamber last friday, fire fighting tests tomorrow, PFA today, and test 3 tomorrow. They have BS this thursday night at 2000 central time. so ladies expect calls friday in the afternoon if they choose to call instead of sleep and he said it will be a long call! ahhhhh can't wait. It was so HARD to say goodbye but he said others were waiting to call. So looks like i'll be up all thrusday night just lacking sleep worried about him!!! He said DIV 216 will also havin BS that night along with another he didn't mention."

Ok, I got a phone call today about 217 guys that are heading to groton CT...
Apparently just because their orders say they arent checking in until the 20th or 21st, that is not the case, they are still getting on the bus to go to the airport 45 minutes after PIR concludes.
My husband was told to call me today and tell me not to go to PIR to wait and meet him in CT for his liberty.
They are getting instructions on their orders tomorrow but that was the word as of today and like I said he was told to call me and let me know that they are not staying there... They will be a grad and go

Stormy,
Thanks for the update. We still plan on going to Graduation and then we will just come home. I so appreciate you thinking of us and letting us know about this. Maybe we will have a little extra time at the airport with him.

I am sure your husband is thinking of your best interest when he told you to go to CT (I know you are so confused right now). Please enjoy your time with him and be very careful driving with your baby. Things have a way of working out for the best. :)

Hi Stormy,
It has been a couple of days since I have been on here (I travel with my job and had to leave Tuesday morning for a couple of days). I got to meet Ed and he seemed like such a nice man. I am so glad you had liberty with him. What is it like in Groton? Kelly said he has three new roommates and he hasn't said much else. He is pretty quiet so I don't get much information from him.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I appreciate all the information you passed along. Do you know what their dutes are while they wait for their school to begin?
Thanks,
Nancy M

Hi Nancy, sorry I havent been on hardly at all lately.
Groton is "ok", the base is huge. Its technically New London CT but groton is like in new london, hard to explain but I dont know.
New London/Groton is ok. Some parts are slummy like really slummy and others are mediocre. Its not really until you get out away from the base that things start looking a little better. After visiting there the past few weekends I have decided that if I do move I will be moving to New Haven which is alot more expensive but also alot cleaner and doesnt look to be as dumpy. But my husband has been telling me that the civilians and people around the base dont like the base there because they have so many DWI's and whatnot. Its like a party/college base apparently.

He hasnt said too much, just that in the beginning he was very busy with qualifications/needing signatures for duty stations from section leaders and whatnot, but he has gotten to the next phase of liberty already for getting all of his stuff done on time/early

First phase of liberty was the "white card" where they had to be back at 10
Next phase of lib is the "yellow card" where they have to be back by midnight
and third phase of lib is the "blue card" where if on the weekend he wants to come home he can leave friday after class, and not be back until 0500am on monday... So he will be in the third phase in a few more weeks, I think they get the blue card after Test 2 in BESS ( basic electronic sub school (the first one for 8 weeks that they are in now)) then there are a few other schools before their A school actually starts.
Also monday or tuesday they actually find out what job they are really going to have.
Ed signed up as a Fire Tech in SECF field but they had a briefing the other day that anyone that went in as a SECF wasnt gauranteed diddly squat so they filled out their dream sheets, and he put his first preference as FT, second preference was ET and last was ST so they will find out on Monday or Tuesday what they actually got assigned...
So mon or tuesday I will either get a happy phone call, a mediocre phone call or a really pissed off phone call lol....

The only thing I know that they have really been doing is alot of listening to lectures, paperwork (same processing as boot camp basically but just for the new base again) tours, duty sections, standing watch, etc etc.

Uhm what else can I tell you? They are required to have a hair cut every 2 weeks for Personal Inspection

I know they have started the physical training tests again and this week or next week they start running 3 miles. I guess the master chief is a hardcore workout/nutrition buff so they will definately be busy with alot of PT...

Im sure there is more I know but Im hitting a blank spot at the moment. But I will update when I think of more or if you can think of anything let me know

My email is 98pgprix@nycap.rr.com

I check that everyday vs. barely checking on here anymore so Id be able to get back to you quicker through my email...

Oh and they did get issued their mail boxes this past week so now they can start receiving letters and whatnot again...

I dont know Im just getting excited for this next weekend. He took leave from July 3rd until
the 7th so Im excited he will actually be able to come back home for the weekend!!!

Ok Let me know if there is anything else u can think of that you might want to know
