Donna,

What day did your son leave? My son left for boot camp on 11/10/08. I still haven't received a letter. I also don't know what division my son is in or how to write him. I'm beginning to panic.

My fiance got to the great lakes on November 12th. I still haven't gotten a letter, but I have been mailing him since Monday. His recruiter gave me his address.

My son left on November 13th, and I just a letter from the Captain telling me a bunch of info of the do's and don'ts. My son got to put a little note at the bottom and it showed me the address etc. I got his address from his recruiter yesterday and it is different than the one I received today. I sent him a letter yesterday to the address the recruiter gave me and I hope it gets to him.

The first thing I would do is call the recruiter. They are one of the first ones to get the address.

My son left on Nov. 13 and I got a letter and the box with his clothes in it on Wednesday, Nov.19. He is in div 060. I have already mailed him some letters and would love to be able to hear his voice. I thought that I would really fall apart when I got the box, but thanks to this website I was more prepared for it and I am thankful that I am getting to know mothers and girlfriends that are experiencing the same emotions that I feel.

After reading the above messages last night, I felt like I should check my post office box this morning. My mom checks it on her way to work, but I left before she did. I went through all of the mail, and there wasn't anything. When I looked up, they had put more mail in. There was a letter from Seth in the mail that they added. I was so excited. He said that everything is good so far. I am so proud of him! I can't wait to get another letter! He is in division 058.

My son left on Nov. 13th and is in DIV 058. I was hoping to hear from him on Thanksgiving and did not. I waited all day and nothing. He has a phone card, but now I'm worried that he won't be able to call my cell phone with it. I have been reading some of the other forums and that was a concern for others.

Hi, Katia, my fiance' is in division 058, also! I don't think that anyone got a call on Thanksgiving. We were all waiting for one, but it never came. We think that maybe they haven't been there long enough to earn calls yet. We don't know the real reason, though. They should be able to call cell phones with a phone card. I think that Seth has called mine before from a phone card. They just can't call cell phones collect. I went to a certain website that told we when they were graduating. http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/family/upcominggrad.html That is the website if you would like to check it out. It also has the graduation schedule. Did you get a letter from your son this week? If you don't mind me asking, what is your son's name?

My son, Alex, is also in Div 060. We got the form letter with a sentence or two on it a few days ago. I sent him a letter since then. I remember when I was in AF bootcamp, it was like three weeks before we could phone. I talked to a friend who was in boot camp over Thanksgiving when he entered the service and he said they were able to phone home on the holiday. My wife and I are hoping. Each instructor is different and if the division needs discipline, they can be very strict on this. (Of course, this knowledge goes back over 20 years.)

Hi Elizabeth,
Sorry that I have not responded, but I have been trying to stay busy this week. I live in TN and Chad is my son. He is 21 and I guess I would have called him a momma's boy. His dad works nights, so he has been at home with me at night, so this has been a big adjustment for me. We live on a farm, so I worry about the buildings and people coming around at night. For the area that we live, he made the best decision for his future and I really am proud of him. He told me if they get to call on Thanksgiving, not to expect to hear from him. His cousin is in the Marines and he said he would call him and he can call us. I guess that is better than no call. Hope to hear from you again.
Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Just wanted to tell you that I got a letter from Chad yesterday(Wednesday). It helped to get it. He said that it was not that bad and he knew that this something that he has to do to get where he wants to be in life. I felt much better after getting it and he asked for us to send pictures. He also sent one to his sister and his girlfriend. Just wanted to tell you and I hope that you hear from your son soon.
