Navy For Moms

If you ask for advice, and get several different points of view, please don't get all huffy if you don't like what you're being told. A recent post from a young woman asked for advice, was given it and because we didn't tell her what she wanted to hear she decided we were very rude and promptly closed her discussion. Not very helpful!

In just the past week we've seen Sarah Palin attack Katie Couric's interview as 'badgering' and Carrie Prejean throw an on air hissy fit because Larry King asked her 'inappropiate' questions. There seems to be a growing public trend in people who can't stand the heat in the kitchen and aren't willing to take Harry Truman's advice. The trend appears to be trickling down to N4M.

I think this discussion is geting off topic., it's getting political undertones. I'm thinking a re read of the new rules and guidelines needs to be read. SO DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER..

Political undertones? Huh?

I'm wondering, what was the discussion on? That's sad and I'm sorry she felt that way. Let's hope she stays with the site and maybe gives it another try, because I also remember how emotional many Mothers (I was one of them) are when first a "new" Navy Mom. It's a tough time, certainly.

It was a young wife with a small child and her husband was in the Navy, had been for 13 years. He had convinced her to join the service to finish her education and she was asking if it was a good idea or not.

Since you inquired, here is the link if you care to read it, although I think Chris A. was trying to be tactful and not point out who it was specifically:

She asked for advice, not support, and she got it from those who have been married while in the service, including a currently serving Navy Counselor who knows the ropes better than most (Hoppi).

(and I'll take down the link if asked to so, no problem)

I didn't say thread, I said link. The thread is there for those who care to search for it, but since a question about content was asked, and I was one of the respondees, I provide the link so others could read it and form their own opinions. However, if the OP wants the link down in this thread, I would be happy to oblige.

And I sincerely hope she got the program she wanted, and that it works out for her and her family and the Navy.

Me, too, Anti M. I did see the thread Inga refers to and was pretty surprised. The whole thing was quite strange to me. How are you married to someone who has been in for 13 years and yet not know what the lifestyle is like? I'm confused at why she was so uninformed/confused about such a life changing decision she had apparently already made.
