Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

dropping son off Wednesday night
Hi,
New to this site. I posted on main page but uncertain where to post to get feedback and support. So here goes. Dropping my son off Wednesday night in Boston. (any others out there doing the same?) He leaves Thursday. I'm sick inside but know this is what he wants and needs. I feel lost and in unfamiliar territory and not sure what to expect over the next few days, weeks and months. Any information anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. I think this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I know this is good for him and I'm holding on to that.

To proud2bhis mom.....I received a letter from our son's best friend (our 2nd son!) while in bootcamp and he assured me that he didn't have ANY time at all to feel homesick or down! He said they kept him so busy all the time that it was just flying by. We probably feel worse than they do :)

When we went to recruiters the day before MEPS to get the hotel paperwork the recruiters no showed. Literally had the marines track them Down...lol. The marine recruiters were next door to them and eventually they called and were able to get hold of them. Finally met up 4 hrs after the appointment time and he got checked in. I told him he was learning patience for what's to come. My RS has 2 younger brothers, my middle son and him are a year apart so they are literally best friends and my youngest is 6 years younger than him and he thinks the sun rises and sets with big brother. Been hard on them both, Ryan loves to brag about his big brother being Navy. It melts my heart.
We are 2 weeks in now, no phone call or letter yet. I have mailed lots of letters and cards to him, don't know if any have arrived. I too wonder what he loves and hates about his experience. He is my buddy, his brothers are much closer to their Dad. It's hard to be separated from him and not have the little conversations and chats. I miss his friends hanging out at the house too. Stay strong Navy Mom....PIR will be here very soon!

It is soooo helpful to know that other Mom's are going through the same thing. My Son leaves from San Diego on Nov 3rd and that will be here before I know it. I am really struggling now becasue he is trying to get in as much friend and girlfriend time as possible.... but I would love some of that time but I do understand. Like I just read, there are good days and days like this.... tears at work. :(
