Navy For Moms

Hi. My daughter graduate on the 20th. I am having a hard time right now and hope to make it there. I wanted to now if anyone know how long the drive is from Fayetteville, NC to Great Lakes IL. And I was told that she would not be able to spend the night with me. So what time will she have to be back at night and how early can I pick her up again? I'm hoping we have alot to do. Will she be able to get a camera for when she leave for AIT? Any info will help. thank yall.

Everything depends on if she is grad-n-go. Meaning does she leave for her "A" School right away or not. Also where is here "A" School.

As for giving her the camera, she can not take anything back to the bootcamp base that was not issued to her while in bootcamp. No phone, camera, civi's etc...

You can mapquest the drive and will give you how long it takes.

She will have all the details when you see her on PIR, regarding what time she has to be back and when she will leave for school.

According to Google Maps, it's about 15-16 hours drive-time from Fayetteville to Great Lakes. That doesn't include stops for gas, food and the bathroom. You may want to fly - it will cost as much to pay for gas, food and a hotel along the way as it will to fly. Once you get to Chicago you can use the transit system there. The train to Chicago goes right by the NTC.

Usually it would be cheaper to fly, but at this short notice, probably not. Your presence will be present enough, I'm sure. Relaxing is what they crave the most at this point. My son just wanted to watch a movie, take a long shower and nap and that was fine with me.

We drove from PA to GL- it was about 11 hours. We broke it up by leaving after work and driving a few hours and staying someplace for the night.

Do you have anyone to help you with the driving? And yes, just catching up and enjoying one another's company will be enough to do. The time goes by faster than we want it to. Enjoy!
