GROUPS: Listed by Name of US Naval Ships (actual US Naval vessels in service)
Looking for other Navy For Moms members with sailors on the same ship/boat?
Here is a list in alphabetical order by name of ship. List doe NOT include groups with fewer than 3 members and/or groups which have been inactive in the last 8 months. Cllckable links have been provided. Just click on the name of the ship. Please post a comment if I missed your sailor's ship (with a link, if possible). Please note that if your son/daughter is in boot camp, his/her barracks are named after ships. The groups listed below are not Navy For Moms groups designated for barracks (please see groups associated with PIR dates). Edited & updated Feb 2017 by BunkerQB.
This list refers to the REAL thing - with sailors, guns, etc.
name of group last date of comment/activity
You may also find members with sons/daughters on a particular ship in one of the following groups, or start your own - it's easy and fun:

CARRIER FAMILIES Active
DESTROYER MOMS Active
FRIGATE MOMS (last activity May 2014)
HELICOPTER SQUADRON 14 (last activity Jul 2013)
PELELIU READY GROUP (AMPHIBIOUS SQUADRON 3) (last activity Dec 2014)
SUB MOMS Active
I have listed 168 groups associated with ships plus the above 8 groups. If you have a group that is currently active and would like to have the link to your group included on the above list, please post a comment with the link and/or send me a message.
Checked the information on the ships as they are listed with the Naval Vessel Register. You'll find it quite interesting.

I looked thru the list and you forgot to add the USS Cowpens CG-63
Will be happy to add Cowpens. It's easy to start a group and fun too.
@Doreen & Robin, after you add the group, post a BLOG and announce that you have form a new group. I would post on Forum under General Category as well as here in this category.
If you preferred, I (or Emma) will be more than happy to post an announcement of new "ship" groups for you. Happy to be of help.
BTW, my son's boat does not have a group either - since it's a sub - he is very guarded as to information. I did find a Family Readiness Group on Facebook (private group - only members see comments). So you might want to find out if there is a FRG for your boats. Just type in "USS Cowpens..."
My son is in the USS Triton. Could you add this one?
Mary from McKinleyville, CA
velvetlace & Patti, the list I compiled are of existing groups already created. I had not included groups with fewer than 2/3 people and those that have not been active for 8-10 months. Please use the search function to find if a group already exists. Click on Groups, input the name of the boat your son is on (eg. USS Triton) and see what comes up. If there is an existing group but I have not included it, please post the link here and I will add it to the compiled list. If there is an existing group but it has been inactive, why don't you join it and post a comment - maybe you can resurrect the group. If you don't find an existing group, you can start one - click on +ADD (after you click GROUPS). Look at some of the other groups to see how others have done it. When you click on any of the boat on the above list, the groups main page will show the creator of the group.
I just created this group to help locate other loved ones
