Hi GeeBee-
Be patient- once ya get going you will meet others. Then it is neat when you meet moms with sailors where yours area and how paths cross, etc. one hint, Join a group that pertains to your sons status or job or where he is statioend. There are somany now even compared to a year ago, so it won't be hard. . Boot camp moms if helpful if your son is in boot camp. If you know your sond division at Boot camp, sometimes there is a group for that too. My son is a Master at Arms, so I have joined that , so what ever job your son will do, there will probably be a group for that also.

Be patient. I will keep in touch if any thing. I remember those first weeks when my son was at BC, and any support was helpful.

Anyway- hope this helps and will try to keep in touch with you. Good Luck!

Hi Paula , Thank you for your support. Yes my son just started bootcamp in Chicago. He will then go to South Carolina for A School for Nuclear Engineering. Every day gets easier for me and my husband, however we miss watching the Yankee game with him.
Dont really know about how to navigate around but I do look forward to hearing from you again. By the way does your child like it and how long does he have to serve.

Hi GeeBee and welcome to the site. There is also a Nuke Moms group you should join. My son just started phase 2 of Nuclear School ("Power School").

Where are you from? There are many groups on this site that are area specific, and you just may find some mom's in your area (and meet and greets too).

Lastly, if you know the date, look for a "PIR" group that has been created for your Recruit's Pass In Review date. You will be able to laugh and cry with people who are going thru the exact same thing that you are. And someone usually takes the initiative to set up a "Meet & Greet" the night before PIR at one of the restaurants close to the Great Lakes base.

And, for kicks, go to bootcamp forum and search for the "Top Ten Lines Home From Bootcamp" discussion thread. I promise you will be laughing and crying at the same time.

Congrats to you and your recruit, and God Bless.

Hi how are you? I am also new to this website and looking around for conversation with other sailor moms. I have a child in the Navy and don't feel too awfully happy about it, but they do have to make their own decisions about their life/future, if we don't allow that, then they'll be resentful to us parents.

You need to search through the different groups (click on "groups" up above) to see which ones would interest you and then join. With your son in boot camp you should definitely join "Boot Camp Moms" and when you find out your son's division # either join or start a group for that division so you can chat with moms whose sons are there with yours. My son has been in for over a year but I still go to the Boot Camp Forum to see if I can offer any help to any of you newbies. Go to the "Discussion Forum" (oh sorry, that's where you are now, duh). Just join in, ask questions, somebody will have the answer.
