Hi GeeBee

The boot camp site is wonderful. I don't think I could have survived without Navy4Moms. I found other moms and wives in the same division as my son, and we supported each other and shared news from our loved ones.

You will learn a lot and feel that you are not alone. I wrote to my son everyday and kept my cell phone glued to me. As soon as you know your son's division and ship #, either start a group for that or look for one on here.

Good luck!

Suzanne, what ship and division is your daughter in? Sorry you feel this way as I find the experience totally different. Just got back from PIR and met in person many whom I had met on-line.

It could be that there aren't many moms on here from your daughter's ship and division. Although there are lots of moms (wives, girlfriends, family members...) on here, there are still many who haven't discovered this great site, so don't take it personally. I hope that you find the support and friendship you are looking for in a group around the rate she has chosen. Best of everything to you and your soon-to-sailor.

Suzanne, I am sorry you feel this way and that there isn't support for you. The link below is for PIR 9.11.09 and maybe you can feel welcomed there! If not, join the leavin in August group... were are a bit nuts! Hope your daughter is doing well.

Instead of searching for Ship & Division, search for the same PIR date. Those groups will be more active. I am still in touch with many of the parents from my Sailor's PIR, and enjoy hearing about them each moving onto the next school/ship/phase of their Naval careers.
