Lisa,
How wonderful! Happy Birthday to your Sailor. We all miss our boys and unfortunately my son, Kyle, will turn 21 over in Japan! Makes me sad to know we won't be able to share such an important event. We all went out together when my daughter turned 21. Best wishes to you and your son!

Hi Lisa! Welcome to the N4M's family. Our daughter is a DEP'er scheduled to leave for boot on 7/14/09, She is also scheduled for a NROTC scholarship interview this Friday 11/14, so her date could be changed if she receives/accepts the scholarship. Many thanks to your son for his willingness & courage to serve! Many thanks to ALL of our sailors!

Hi Lisa,
My son also tured 21 acouple of months ago, He was out to sea, But they played a trick on him, He broght he was in trouble, they made him go to the Cap. and everything, asked him if it was an important day for him, then gave him a big Box of drinks.. Boy was he scared. LOL
So don`t worry about them forgetting him on his B-Day...They won`t.

At least we know there is humor and nurturing in the Navy too...even big guys need it.

Chin up. My sailor was unable to come home for his 21st birthday either.I had alittle party for him and took pictures and put them on my space so he could see them. That is why I have it. Then when he came home we hade a Party. No more worrying about under age drinking. He will be 23 in June.

I agree to the no more worries...will probably tend to be more responsible now that he is legal!

Hi Lisa, my son spent his 21st birthday at sea also. He will also spend his 22nd birthday at sea too. I send him the microwavable cakes and candles for him to celebrate since he can't be at home with us. Its sad that he can't be home for his birthday or any other holiday but we spoil him rotten when he does get home for visits. On his 21st birthday a bunch of his friends from his patrol took him out to dinner and drinks at one of the clubs in Bahrain. So at least he got to celebrate in style. Hope your son is doing well and enjoying A school. Have a blessed day, Laura

Lisa,
I understand how you feel. My son turned 22 in Oct and this was the first time I had ever been away from him on his birthday. Its tough but there is so much support on navyformoms.com we can get through anything. Thanksgiving and Christmas is going to be tough with my son not coming home...Luckily he is stationed in DC and I am orig from MD and he can spend it with my family who is still there. Best of Luck Linda
