Navy For Moms

my son swears in tommorow. Our recruiter told us that he would be an e2 by the time he left. He still has not had that done. He is reentering his paperwork today.

He also told us in the beginning that he would be able to become a seal even though his asvab score was not high enough. He even went to pre buds training for a while.

Now he is going to be a turbine engineer.

I am trying to support my son. But there is a lot of mistrust.

Hey Mindy, it is hard to know what is going on when recruiters say one thing and they do another, or what we think we understand is different then what happens. When you say sign , do you mean he is signing a dep contract? It is okay to talk with other recruiters, get their take on it, and he can still continue his things with his area recruiter. What is on the paper work is what goes, esp. on the ship out day and the final contract.

Well, I suppose your son is in boot camp now. Did the paperwork for E-2 go through? I was wondering, did they not give him more than one chance to take the ASVAB before he was sworn in so that he could get a higher score to qualify for SEALs? And what did you mean that he had already been in pre buds training...that comes after boot camp for sailors with a SEAL contract. Did he do an advanced training program as a Sea Cadet? Sorry for all the questions! If your son is happy with his career choice of turbine engineer then that is great!
