The website seems to say that only dependents can stay at the Lodge, that you need dependent IDs to be eligible. Does the GL Navy Lodge allow parents and siblings to stay, or is it only for spouses and children?

The GL Navy Lodge is the only Navy Lodge that I am aware of that your recruit does not have to be present when you make reservations or check in. I made my reservations online and had no issues when checking in. Yes parents and siblings are allowed to stay there! We were very pleased with our accomodations there!......(I'm sorry that it took me so long to reply to your questions! I have had a very busy work week!...LOL)

just call GL Navy lodge and was informed you must have a military ID to check in.

I know that this is N4M and not Navy4wives but I am 20 and you have to be 21 to check in, so just to let anyone whose under 21 know you can't check in here. You can be under 21 at Motel 6 and Motel 8.

We stayed at the Days Inn about 5 miles from the base on Buckley Road. It was a straight shot down the road to the base. It was clean and oly 54.99 per night and they had a continental breakfast. Everyone was very helpful at the hotel.

We went to Jimmy's Char grill which was located on Buckley road west of the the hotel, the food was great and reasonably priced.

We had our son and a friend of ours who went to high school with our son both graduated that weekend. They both just wanted to spend time with us at the hotel after lunch. They took the opportunity to nap, talk on the cell phone to the friends and family, got on the internet, and even take a shower alone for the first time in 2 months. They just wanted to eat something other than base food and be with us. Kind of nice.

My older stepchildren felt much the same way 20 years ago when they graduated from Navy boot in Orlando.

I called the Navy Lodge yesterday to make reservations for PIR on 12/30/09. It is my brother who is graduating. They said as long as he checks us in within 24 hours of our arrival we would be fine. I asked if that would be a problem and the person I talked to said it would not be if we were checking in the day before PIR. It is going to be my mom and I so from what I was told they do allow parents and siblings to stay but the recruit has to check in with the hotel within 24 hours of your arrival.

Do you happen to have the telephone # for the Navy Lodge? I would appreciate the info. Your brother and my son graduate on the same date! Thanks, Judy

hope this is not too dumb of a question...for graduation..do family members need ID of any sort...one of my sons is 18 but hasnt gotten his driver's license yet...oddly he's always had school ID's and now a college ID..and will my aunt who dosent drive or really carry any ID need to get one as well? I swear my family is asking me questions like this to keep me distracted..thanks for any help

Dear Jillzz:
Your son and your aunt may obtain a non-driver's picture i.d. from their local state's DMV office if they do not have a picture i.d. of any sorts.

Hello, I just booked motel reservations for the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes..I was wondering what airport is the closest to the Lodge. O'Hare is the one we were thinking about, would you recommend that. How far from the Lodge was it to Graduation? Do they offer a shuttle or should we rent a car. I am so confused about all of this. Please if you have more information, just let me know. Thank you so very much. I just booked reservations and they listed us as leisure and just asked for our recruits name and branch of service. They didn't say anything about him needing to check us in or anything. Did you have a problem with that at check-in.
I would appreciate any information that you might have, thank you so very much and have a wonderful day....

Hi there. I'm trying to get the same info, so I hope someone replies to this. If you have the Navy Lodge number, could you pass that on to me? I would like to make reservations there also. Thanks, Judy
