Hotel Recommendations for PIR on 11/21

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels? Our son is graduating on 11/21 and I was wondering if anyone would have a suggestion on where to stay while we were there. Any other suggestions as to what to do while we are there and things like that would be appreciated as well!

I've seen the Navy Lodge mentioned several times through what I have read. I haven't been on here too long and I regret that I haven't been now...I think it would have helped a great deal since he left for boot camp!!!

Hi Marianne! My son is graduating that day, we're staying at Quality Inn in Waukegan. My son is division 006. I'm getting so excited, can't believe it is so close!

That's where we are staying also. Booked the room yesterday. We will be coming from Nashville, TN and I simply cannot wait!!! It cannot get her quick enough!!! I am counting down the hours until we can leave next Thursday!!!

We are staying at the Ramada in Waukegan right now. It's fine. I have stayed in much nicer but I have also stayed in much worse. If I had to come back here for another Navy thing for our son and was paying out of my pocket I would certainly stay here again. If I was coming for work and work was paying I would stay somewhere much nicer lol

They have comfy beds, feather pillows, the rooms are clean and the bathroom is okay. We were not impressed with the restaraunt, but we are kind of foodie snobs so that's no suprise. The room we are in has a little microwave and a decent size fridge so we were able to bring snacks and drinks with us. We just went to the pool and that is decent also. They have a hot tub and a sauna as well.

All in all it's a decent cheap hotel in an average area. I have staid in penthouse suites for work multiple times, a hotel built in a 15th century building in France and in some places that were so bad that I checked out and slept in my car. This is decent, clean, convenient (4 miles to base) and the staff I have met so far is very nice and helpful. If you need to be in the lap of luxery this is not the place but no police, no hookers, and no bugs so it works for me! Lot's of military families and sailors here also so the clientele is decent and safe as well.

We are at PIR right now...it was WONDERFUL and so exciting. We are staying at the Hilton Homewood Suites because. The hotels have a special rate for the PIR. The Hilton has a full breakfast and light dinner with salads Mon. through Thurs. We have a mini kitchen, two bedrooms, and a sleeper sofa. The pool and fitness center are ok too. It is about 15 minutes from the RTC. Hope it helps.

We stayed at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Gurnee, it was great.

My son PIR'd 12/24 and we stayed at the Navy Lodge. It was clean and VERY close to base but a bit old, nothing extra. They did have really good coffee at all times in the lobby but that was it. REALLY basic but I think it was only $62.00 per nite. I would go there again for a Navy function just because it was cheap to take a taxi to base and the staff was great. It is only like a mile from the grad hall and it is actually on base.
