Navy For Moms

Hey Navy Moms....I got my first letter from my son yesterday!!! I hugged that letter close and read it all day long. I was prepared to read that he was, as he put it, "shell-shocked", by the first week. By reading your letters, I knew a bit what to expect. He was also still sure of his decision...I'm so proud of him. He was so sweet...saying, "Now, Mom...don't worry...I'm fine." He's 22 and has had three years of college, so he's used to being away from home and has some maturity on his side...I know that will help him. He's in Division 097, so I'm sure some of you other moms got a letter or will get one soon.
God bless,
Erin

I also finally got a letter yesterday. It was so good to finally hear from my daugher. She sounds so much more mature already even after only 4 weeks. She is sure appreciating what she had at home now that she has to share a bathroom and shower with 70 girls and has no contact with anyone. My daughter is in Division 087. I have to say I was very disappointed not to get a phone call on Christmas though. I thought for sure they would let them call. But hopefully a call will come soon. Hope you all get letters or calls real soon....it just helps so much to hear their voice and know they are okay.

Hi Donna,
My son Tom is also in Div.087. He passed his personal inspection on Friday and they gave him a phone priviledge. I for the 2nd time missed his call, but the rest of my family got to talk to him. He notified us that their Div. is graduating Jan. 29. He did say that the Graduaiton packages are in the mail. If you want to contact me directly, lehome3@comcast.net. Lynda

Your son will be ok . My son is going in the Navy Feb 6 , 09 . Greatlakes Illinois .
We're very proud of our son , this is his decision .

We've a daughter who's in the Airforce , she's in her second week
she told son , some do's and don'ts , Airforce and Navy Basic
Training is almost the same . I compared the differences , they're
both 8.5 weeks long . somethings can be different.

Overall , We're Proud of Both our Son and Daughter .......

You will watch him graduate and feel overwhelmed.

We received our second letter a few days ago. Like you, I was prepared for the worst and was pleasantly surprised! Both letters seemed upbeat. Other than him complaining about his division being behind, other kids smarting off, he seemed great. He is hoping they will finally "get it together" this week. He's been made his section leader, whatever that means! We are very proud! My son div. 096. and he's 23.

My son graduated 12/24 and I still love to read those letters I got from him while in Bootcamp. Write him everyday if you can, mail is soooooooooooo important! They live for mail, seriously. Newspaper clippings, photos, cartoons. Anything that will fit into a regular envelope. Not too thick because they will open it or make him open it in from of everyone. Congrats on your sweet sweet letter lady. They get to write only on Sunday. I usually got letters anywhere from Wed to fri.depending on post office.
