I'm here to help with any questions about DEP, bootcamp, and A school training!

I've been in for just a little over a year now and have recently completed training. After bootcamp I went to some school in Great Lakes, Illinois and the rest in Pensacola, Florida. I have stayed in contact with friends from bootcamp that have gone to the other training commands/schools as well so I have that info too. If I can be of any assistance, feel free to ask.

PS- I am in the aviation field and can specialize in those questions.

do you know what happens if someone does not pass the run, are they given other opportunities, and how long are they held back for?

Purple Pig, I was given your name by one of the mothers who is has similar situation with her son.
My son (I don't know if I should give you his name?) was held back because he did not pass the run.
I have not heard from him since, and don't know what will happen next. Could you please, please,
help me? All I want to know is what happens now? How long will he be held back and will he graduate? Thank you. Ramriv

Here's what happened in my division. We did our final PFA (physical fitness assessment) and some did not pass the run. The following week our division went to one of our regular training classes, but those who did not pass went instead to go try the run one last time. If they passed they were allowed to stay in the division, if not, they are sent to a special physical training division called FIT (sorry, I forgot what it stands for). There they will be given the opportunity to try the PFA over and over again until they pass, then they will be placed back into a normal division that is in the same phase of training as the one they transfered out of. In some cases, such as happened in my own division, some recruits that go to FIT are able to pass quickly and actually rejoin their original division, which is of course what we all want.

I know that FIT was in Ship 06 when I was in bootcamp in the fall of 2008, and I would assume it still is.

Hope that covers it, comment back if I forgot to mention anything or if you have further questions.

Shipmate:

FYI things change ALL the time. Do NOT assume anything about what is going on somewhere unless you are currenlty stationed there.

Careful how you word things on this or any other forum.
