Navy For Moms

If you have a loved one who is about to go to OCS or thinking about it (Newport, RI) then this is a great series of articles and videos done by the Providence, RI newspaper about a year ago, following several candidates through OCS. Take some time to read the articles and few the videos. Don't be scared by it, like I was. OCS is VERY tough, but when they graduate, it is the proudest day of your child's life and of your life! It is truly amazing! Also, there is a great support website for you while your loved one is going through OCS. It is http://www.officerfamilies.com/portal/index.php. You have to create a login account for yourself to read through the threads of previous classes. You will find great support from this site DURING OCS. Once in there, click on "Navy Families" to go to Navy OCS. Here is the link for the newspaper article series about OCS: http://www.projo.com/extra/2008/ocs/ It is very intimidating the first 4 to 6 weeks of OCS, but in the last 6 weeks, as they become leaders in the school, you begin to see why they go through the first 6 weeks. I hope this is helpful!
