Navy For Moms

Emily called this week and told us her wrist got broken in three places while she was holding the flag as guide-on. They have it in a cast for 14 days. If it's still broken after that then they'll put another one on and her graduation will more than likely be moved. The way she explained it happening was that another recruit jogged past her and their full canteen swung up and hit it! Freaky! Please pray for her speedy recovery so she can do PIR as scheduled. Not to mention she really wants to be guide-on again because she was really enjoying it. Has anyone else been in this situation before?? Or had an injured recruit at boot camp??

I have no advice or information, but I will certainly keep her in my thoughts. I hope she has a speedy recovery and can PIR on schedule.

Our son was injured and on medical hold for three weeks. It delayed his granduation but all is well now. As for keeping the gidon position, that I can't help cause he transferred to a different division.

Well, we received a call from her last week and it looks like they will be moving her to RCO very soon so she will NOT get to see her division graduate after all. She could be in RCO up to 8 weeks! This is seriously going to delay her PIR and everything is pretty much up in the air. We can make no plans until her wrist is completely healed and they move her into another division. I hope she keeps her spirits up and heals quickly and completely before moving on. And I can't wait to just be able to give her a hug. Thank you Barbara for your encouragement. It helps to know that other moms have gone through this same thing and made it out ok. And Pris I appreciate your thoughts as well. Blessings@

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this...My son is on the way to the airport now for his first night at boot camp. Him getting injured is just one of my fears! I'll pray for a quick recovery and that they keep her busy. What a disappointment it must be for her!

My friend Troy broke his leg in boot camp when another company marched into them! I don't remember exactly how many weeks, but it was quite a few. He made himself useful while healing, helping out the POs in charge with minor desk and paperwork. He studied too. Keeping busy is important.

Anti M, Great advice. My son called yesterday with a sprang ankle and shoulder, so his PIR has been moved also. He sounded terrible and so depressed. I pray that he snaps out of it. Please keep him in your prayers.

Well, he has had a depressing thing happen. Tell him to hang in there and make the best of things. I will keep him in my thoughts.

Where do recruit go when they are injured and depressed? Are they able to still receive mail? Once a mom, always a mom... worrying is a perk of being a parent.
Justin was on SHIP 14; DIV311

actonup:

Each division should have a Religious Petty Officer. My son is the RPO for his division. My son said he helps and talks with SR all the time about how they feel and are doing. Ship 12 Div 311 should have a RPO also. My son is at the chapel most of the day on Sunday's but again I think each ship has their own chapel. Have Justin see who is the recruit RPO for his ship. Prayer groups get together on their own on a lot of the ships and divisions. Have Justin ask around.

Yes! Emily has told me about this and is hoping to have more time to attend chapel now that she's in RCU. Thanks for the reminder:) And let your son know that what he does is making a difference!!!
