Hi, I know a few LI moms. I'll have to tell them to respond here. I live in the middle to eastern end of Suffolk County.

Thanks Brenda--
Hope you are gathering up that last bit of sunshine before it's school!

czimmerman--Ronkonkoma is only about 20 minutes from where I live. My daughter used to live in Lake Ronkonkoma, but now in Center Moriches. I am going to tell the other LI moms to come here and leave a comment. I know a couple.

czimmerman, after your son leaves (a day or 2 later), your son's recruiter will be able to give you his address. Start writing to him as he will need your encouragement now. Then you will want to get on this site and search for other moms who have a child who left for boot camp around the same day and find some moms with a recruit on the same ship and in the same division as your son. For boot camp they will be one of your best supports. You can compare information sent home from that maybe once a week letter from your son. Your son will not have time to tell you everything so sharing information about what is going on will give you that more connected feeling to your son. You will know when PIR is, if they are planning a meet and greet, when Battle Stations are, when some are calling home so you know to expect a call soon, etc. My son has been in the navy for 15 months now, I'm no pro but I've been where you are now so hopefully I can help. If you have any questions just ask. Maybe us LI moms can get together. Stay close to Navy for moms as we were or are in the same situation and can really relate to your feelings, other meaningful family members and friends really don't get it the way a Navy mom understands. Don't get me wrong they will be good support too but when you have your navy mom moments come to us, we know and understand. Good luck to you and your son. Will talk soon. Pat

Hi all,

Haven't been on the site recently. I am interested in getting the local group rolling, and available to help any way I can.

Best to all,
Ann

Hi Ann, I'd like to get together too. I was thinking about the Red Lobster 801 SUNRISE HWY
COPIAGUE NY 11726
(631) 842-3640

It is a bit of a ride for me but then people in Nassau county can go to OR
There is a really good diner Terrace Diner (good food) and can put large tables together
they are also located on Sunrise Hwy in North/West Babylon. That would be a little easier for us who are out in Suffolk County towards the eastern end.

I haven't had time to look into this and I will be back at work soon which will make it even more difficult for me to make arrangements especially for the month of Sept. I got a few responses where the evening or weekend evening would be best due to working people. What do you think?

I am in except I am having surgery September 18th and then his PIR is the 25th. Can we do it early September?

Dear C,
I am sorry to hear you are having surgery. I hope you are OK.
